Tan appreciation thread

Wed Aug 12, 2020 4:16 pm

It seems like we still have money available for players despite the circumstances surrounding football at the moment. Ironic that we are buying a player off Wigan (seemingly) when previous mis-management of our club caused us to lose our captain and best player to them for pennies. Not only is he subsidising the club when little to no income he’s actually spending.

Thank you Mr Tan.

We are back in blue. What’s to hate?

Well I thought we all had moved on from this but it seems a minority want to bring up the bad times. How very sad.

well done Tan...but lets be honest here Tan wouldnt even have heard of us had it not been for us being pushed for all mr mismanagement was worth...

Fxck Tan, hed sell us in a heartbeat

I started in 1980 and dreamt one day the blues were going up "to the top flight"

And when we did 30 odd years later it was ruined by glory hunting red Cardiff fans

Standing on the pitch after we drew with Charlton and secured promotion

Should have been my dream moment

But no, looking around at all the mugs in red celebrating was almost as bad
getting relegated in Bury years back

And I bet there was no red birds sorry glory hunters in Bury that day

On the contrary I’m absolutely not doing that. My very post is based on now and my response to Wez is also pushing the future and saying the past is the past.

I’m amazed we are spending money. Didn’t expect it.

Absolutely agree.

Without Sam we would likely still be in the bottom two leagues. I couldn’t see how we would have got anywhere near where we are now.

Tan was at the helm for our second promotion too mate - in blue. I wasn’t a red bird but I carried on with my support and was glad that we changed back to blue.
Could we get a better owner? Possibly but I’m not aware of any suitors at the moment.
Could we get anyone worse? Absolutely definitely. Just ask Hull City fans.

“Vincent Tan’s Barmy Army!” :bluescarf:

He said when he arrived that he wanted us to be known on a global scale. The rebrand was all part of his master plan, objective achieved.

Seriously though, can’t fault the guy as even if I had his personal wealth, I wouldn’t be using it to finance and keep afloat a football club from another country.

Would you rather us be playing at home with 3k crowds again then? A fan base has to start somewhere. I'm glad of the 'extra' fans, means we can compete with clubs which also has large support, I bet many of them started off as 'glory' fans and got hooked as a result.

Not in the slightest. I was merely responding to another post. The ‘redbirds’ is bollocks. Fans came to us as we were successful. The season tickets took a huge hike when we got to the FA Cup Final. Ridsdale had the genius idea to sell season tickets based on Cup Final tickets. Sadly it meant a lot of tickets got into non fans’ hands but it is what it is.

Quite clearly it’s not kids ‘Redbirds’ who have jumped on. Our base crowd is now about 13k whereas it was 3k back in the Bury days. That is a positive of success.

Losing all this money as the press like to tell us "as hes thousands of miles"

I find that hard to believe

Hes making money off us somehow in my opinion, which we are all entitled to.

if anyone shouts stats at me from online sources dont bother

I'm sure I could find stats the loch ness monster really exists

After all if "he give a dam" as you' all seem to think why didnt he listen to true fans who obviously were against the red nonsense

If you believe his lovely little mum made him change his mind and see the error of his ways then that's your choice but

Im fully confident it was because season ticket sales were very low

As far Sam Hamman, whatever happened at the end

he started our success and personally I will always thank him for it

Plus I still want " Sam hamman walking round the pitch"

You are deluded and yes any so called Cardiff fan in red was a mug sold on success but not identity & culture, if you think a clubs culture including change of identity and colour is ok for success then more fool you., I dont and would forgo success, maybe I have pride in my club, its culture and identity not success and a change of everything like you redbirds

I'm sure you can work out red bird for yourself as your such an adult and I'm a little child

You and the red birds would probably sell your nan for success

Good times and bad times, I been in Halifax on a Friday night, barely 100 there, great promotions so yeah I know a out that

But atleast we were in blue with no stupid badge,

So I stand by any so called Cardiff fan in red that time has no soul, sense of pride & identity in there club.

I've only been old enough to know the who were who at Cardiff since the 06-07 season, but the best times for me have been under Tan. Excluding the red kit season he has done right by us.

I watched before 1970 and I've been games with less than 50 fans there and to call me a red bird is an insult however you dress it up... said was a childish remarks and it is! we are all city fans watching in red white or blue ? What were your thoughts when Sam changed the badge?

What if the fans who became fans when we were in red stayed around? Are they now real fans? I mean there was a lot of them. Our biggest crowds in a generation were when we played in red.

Correct. The only real Cardiff fans are those who opposed the red.

Just like the amount who watched Rochdale or Halifax away on the Friday night the number is in the thousands.

This wasn’t meant to bring up old shite it was meant to be a positive post about our future. A future that looks bright under our current owner despite the cloud surrounding a lot of clubs in the EFL.

Re: Tan appreciation thread

Wed Aug 12, 2020 8:58 pm

This is why the red needs to stay dead and buried and not be brought up

We all have different takes on it, you can guess mine no doubt

Allan, I'm as big a fan as you and not more

just because our take on it is different doesnt make either of us more or less of a city fan, I didnt mean to cause offence 9r question your support.

and it the people who came when in red are still coming great then that's good

And for what it's worth I've moved on but that time was the worst following "our" club that's why I sound bitter

But Tan is still here and that says a lot

As much as it was a bad time at the club and personally I struggled as did thousands. But I wouldn't dare tell anyone else what to
wear, people who have sat next to me for a few years took on the red. Didnt stop our friendship, he was like your dad and would wear a skirt if that's what we played in. what he does is his business, whether I or anyone agrees or not.

And if your dad had a red top on, that was his choice to no one elses.
