As Wigan have since gone into administration and been relegated to League One, the fee for the 28-year-old is now expected to be less than £2m.

Middlesbrough, managed by ex-Cardiff boss Neil Warnock, are also keen on Moore but the Bluebirds appear to be in a strong position to sign him.

Does he want to come to Wales or want to hawk himself?

Annis, have stoke matched Wigan’s asking price or Moore’s wage demands?

If that’s his reasoning then we should beat off Boro.

Possibly his agent having a last gasp attempt to add a few grand onto wages offered by us / Boro.

Middlesbrough make last ditch move for Wigan forward

Middlesbrough could stop Cardiff City's hopes of signing Wales forward Kieffer Moore, according to reports.

Despite initial reports claiming that Cardiff City were the favourites for the Wigan forward, there has been a surprising sting in the tail.

It is understood that Boro boss Neil Warnock has made a move for Kieffer Moore and Boro are working on bringing the forward to the Riverside Stadium.

Moore is believed to the the number one target for Cardiff City boss Neil Harris, who wants to build the attack around the 6ft 5in forward.
However, Moore is undecided as he knows that he will fit perfectly into Warnock's style of play. The veteran manager is known for utilising a strong sturdy target-man throughout his career.

The Wigan forward was impressive this season, displaying a good vein of form that saw him win his debut cap for Wales last November.

The Northern Echo claims that both Middlesbrough and Cardiff City have had bids of £2 million accepted by Wigan and the player is expected to make a decision soon. Championship rivals Stoke City, Queens Park Rangers and Millwall have also shown an interest in signing the forward.

In these times, wages will undoubtedly take hits? But if he is demanding too much, then we should stick to our guns,if he comes he comes,if not we move on,I would not be too concerned if he doesn't come,as he's hardly been prolific,2 more goals than glatzel, who has had to move country, have himself play in a role he isn't cut out for,etc etc.but at 2m Moore could offer competition. :old: :bluebird:

well if you were his agent and have a number of clubs all prepared to meet Wigans asking price ,your going to see how much you can bump his contract... looks like both Millwall and Stoke are out and switched their interests elsewhere.. , or at least thats what both clubs have been quoted as saying..

Yes I would....unless it was Cardiff where I’d advise my client that the prospects there far outweigh any higher wages he could get elsewhere

been reported that Wigan have accepted bids from a number of clubs... but the stumbling block is his wage demands.. some clubs moving on to alternative targets as back up plans, really hope we have a plan B too ...

For all we know he might not even be our first choice.

But at 2m. I think he's worth a gamble?! His wage demands can't be much more than what Danny Ward was on?

i would have thought that myself , i suppose when you have a number of clubs all interested and prepared to pay the transfer fee your ideas of how much you should be earning increase { or maybe your agents ideas ? } Millwall have now signed the boy from Spurs on loan. but reports from all interested parties have hinted towards him wanting more than they are willing to pay... think maybe clubs are being more cautious with their obligations going forward as well..

MOORE SET FOR CARDIFF MEDICAL

Wigan Athletic forward Kieffer Moore is on his way to Cardiff City for a medical.

Wigan have given Moore until 5pm today to get the deal done with Cardiff. The 28-year-old turned down the chance to join QPR last month and Stoke City pulled out of a deal earlier this month. The fee is expected to be £1.5mill.

Re: UPDATED: ‘ STRIKER HAVING MEDICAL WITH CARDIFF “

What is the relevance of Wigan giving Moore until 5pm today to complete this?

What if he doesn't sign? What will they do, play him next season?
They will not have the money they so desperately need if they refuse to sell him.

Didn't they pay £3m for him last season, and allegedly turned down £3m or £4m last January?

Whether it is £2m as reported last month or £1.5m as reported now (why has it dropped) it is a bargain.

Glatzel £5.5m, Vassell £4m and Madine £6m shows how good a deal I believe this will be.

Agree a steal at that price, with him and Glatzel that's some decent striking options. Not an out and out goalscorer but Moore will bring our midfield into play.

We may well be in a position to pay the bulk of the fee upfront with our parachute payments.
Wigan or the administrators probably need the money to pay the current wages.

That is probably correct.
Perhaps we are getting a cheaper deal by paying most, if not all the price now, to enable them to avoid further points deductions for being unable to pay their wages this month. This is the kind of thing that used to happen to Cardiff, now it's our turn to benefit.
Didn't we have to sell Graham Kavanagh to Wigan very quickly on a Friday to pay the wages? They had a helicopter to fetch him If I remember correctly.

Payback time ??
