Covid. Nightmare but a great excuse

I'm not ignoring or denying covid has had awful tragedies to families

BUT

Anyone think the more savvy employers may be using this as an excuse to save money on wages, sack employees, close shops etc?

Using it as an excuse for failings?

100% many used the time off to plan for the future and left the government pay their wages (furlough) until they had restructured, and have had time to test working from home and selling online, so can now make additional retail and office space savings.

It was also an enforced stress test, many businesses were just getting by on loans and operating hand to mouth, a few weeks off and many weak businesses were bound to fold.
