In reality it’s not a fire sale, it’s getting rid of valuable dead wood that we can make some money off (players like Etheridge, Murphy etc who I wouldn’t class as key players anymore) in order to buy players who actually contribute to us getting promoted, rather than tagging along for the ride.

It wouldn't surprise me to see offers for Smithies and Gratzel materialise. Smithies has been brilliant this season and the three promoted teams would know all about him and I'm sure he must have been scouted by other PL teams.
On Gratzel I wonder (complete gut feeling this) if Leeds might take a punt. He has proved himself a great impact player this season most notably against Leeds twice.

Never sign a player on the basis of him having a good game against you. The last couple of times we did it it did not work out to well. The first time was when we signed Gavin Gordon from Lincon I think when he scored a couple of goals against us in a cup game. He was just about adequate but not worth the money we paid for him. The second time was Soloman Tawio a complete journeyman from Dagenham and Redbridge who had a good game against us but was really barely league two standard and was predictabley useless and drifted back to non league football after leaving us. If Leeds sign Glatzel I will eat my i pad.
