Comments on Welsh and English radio programmes today sagging off the people who have gone abroad. Maybe they could not have afforded a holiday in this country (check it out) or like the certainty of sun and a warm sea or the fact that the region they are in is safer than Britain. Selfish? Lots oh them are NHS workers Selfish? Only in the minds of the daily mail brigade and some of our very own best stupids

Yet they want us to go back to the office via public transport at the end of August.
Where's the logic in that?
It's all about money now mate, the only reason they want to stop people going to Spain is because they want people to stay here ahd spend their money in our own economy.
This is actually fair enough and makes perfect sense and is something I am sure most people would support but they should just come out and say it.

You can see it from governments point of view.
They have covered say 'Bob' and his Mrs on furlough and paid 80% of their wages for the last 4 months so his company can survive and he doesn't lose his job then 'bob' fucks off to Spain for his holibobs and puts his money into the Spanish economy, that is selfish but just an example. I know not everyone going on foreign holidays has been on furlough but a lot probably have.
The government want some money back can you blame them, not really, are people selfish, some are yeah.

Actually yeah, I would say if you have been on Furlough and go on a foreign holiday this summer then you are very selfish, but that's just my personal opinion

Our economy is on the bones of its ass and people are spending there money abroad. A lot of that money was generously afforded to them by the government in furlough payments and grants whilst they stayed safe in there houses. They repay that brilliant gesture by the government by giving that same money to other countries leaving our economy struggling to recover.
Then add in the fact they are going to countries with higher rates of infection than us and bringing it back . That is selfish after all the hard work of the last few months.
Never mind I'm sure it will be the government's fault though when we go back into lockdown and those same people who spend money abroad will be looking for more handouts.

I share alot of your views particularly on honesty from the government. Personally, I won't be abroad for a while but I really dislike the outcry about those who have gone.they left at a time when deemed safe by our government and now Mr and Mrs angry are everywhere having a go. Having spent many a week being drowned in torquay as a kid they have my full support. This anger over the airwaves is because the accusation is that of being irresponsible which is nonsense when you look at the data. Barcelona v the islands. A bloody big difference to bristol v Newport yet the latter are governed differently

The data shows a huge surge in covid cases in Spain and many other European countries.
There are very little if any travel restrictions between mainland spain and the islands . So whats to stop the spread within Spain before its too late to notice for us ?
The problem is we waited too long first times, now we are not making that mistake again it is still wrong decision. The government can't win. If it was the other way round spain would ban the whole UK and not worry about angelsey or the Isle of White.
Its hard on certain parts yes but necessary for our country which is a that matters at the moment .
