Neil Harris: “We are capable of “

Tue Jul 28, 2020 5:07 pm

NEIL HARRIS:

"With the players and camaraderie we've got, we're capable of clawing this back."

That's the message from the Boss.

"In Play-Off games, when you're on top, you've got to take your chances. After the drinks break, Fulham adjusted their shape and were better.

"Then we never really got going in the second half. They pressed much better and made it difficult for us.

"It's an uphill battle, but we'll go there with spirit. We've been written off time and time again and we've come back stronger."

Having started brightly in the first leg, Harris and Cardiff will be looking to draw first blood at Craven Cottage.

Should they manage to do so, the City boss believes his side are capable of producing what would be a memorable comeback to reach the Final.

"It's a quick turnaround and the first goal is going to be key on Thursday," he added.

"Mentally, we prepare and recover from this [the first leg]. With the players and camaraderie we've got, we're capable of clawing this back."

They are capable if they go for it and don't hold back. We need a performance like Leeds away and hope Fulham have a off day.

City score in the first 10 minutes
and its a totally different game, we need to cancel out that unjust last minute free kick early.

I'd can't see anyway past this side.I can't see what he can do to make it any different. It was like West Ham all over again in Malky's first season, just too bloody good. The only possible scenario is if we score first and they have a major wobble.

Get stuck in, smash a first goal within 15 minutes then watch Parker mince about on the touchline and lose it.

1-3

He has stated that they are "not going to be to open to early" in other words not going to go for it from the start ffs 2 0 down and we are not going to give it a go
not worth getting on the bus then.

try watching the documentary of Arsenal winning the title at Anfield. all the media saying how Arsenal needed to attack from the kick off if they were to win 2-0 and take the title and George Graham in private laughing off the idea and saying how crazy going there gung ho would be...maybe Harris thinks the same ? its not like late substitutions havent worked for us ..
or..it could just be a bluff

aaaah...the rarely used double double bluff.

Like it

I really like Harris and he deserves huge credit since hes come in but Parker really seems to own him tactically. Hes had three matches against Fulham this season and been soundly beaten each time. The game against his Milwall team broke the records for possession against a team. Perhaps he'll spring a surprise but sadly I rather expect us to get comfortably beaten again with him trying to play a tactical, patient game again. In my view the only way to win is to go utterly gun-ho, relentlessly press and press and use half time and the water break to change and use all our subs in midfield and up front. Oh and remove Pack, he couldn't press a trouser.

TOP CCFC

So if we do not go for it from the start and fulham get the 1st goal have we got a plan b when 3 nil down
double bluff i honestly don't think neil knows which way to play it chasing a game from the start you have to go for it and over the years watching 2 leg games such as european cup matches Liverpool united arsenal been a few goals down they have attacked attacked from the start got to go for it.

So.... Steady as she goes first Ten , pinch one off a set piece ( by giving the ball to someone else instead of Morrison and the 3 or 4 surrounding him ) Game on !!

Can't see Tomlin playing two so close together so Vaulkes in , which he should have been last time round.

Also TBH he might as well get Bamba in as always chance of a goal off him. :D

Stick with my * City on pens * :ayatollah:

I think we'll learn a lot about Harris tomorrow. The result is almost immaterial at this stage as Fulham have a better squad of players man for man. The only players who'd get in their team are Smithies and Morrison.

For me its about attitude and adaptability. We can't out pass Fulham, we have a team of athletes (with one notable exception ;) so how is he going to combat their style?

More of the same ?

Then I worry that my initial "shit, not him" feeling that he is another club stalwart who was given a chance to manage a club because of his status within the fan base (Millwall legend) and he is following the same coaching manual they all get taught nowadays and he finds out he has no real aptitude for management with us tossing around the base of the championship until its too late and he ends up on Soccer Saturday in a few seasons.

Cracking the Fulham puzzle may be beyond this squad (although Warnock managed it).
Beisla, Pep,Klopp do it their way. The Norwich and Brentford bosses do it their way, so do Dyche, Wilder and Warnock. Scott Parker is playing expensive squad football which he can do in the championship then will realise he can't in the premier and they come straight down again.

What is Harris's way ? C'mon Neil show us you have something a bit different !!

I really don't care about the result, does he really have a system that get Tomlin and a dominant midfield on the pitch, will he bench Tomlin ? If my career depended on Glatzel, I'd lace up my boots. What is he going to do ? Start with Ward or play 3 wingers ?

Remember we were 3-0 down at Leeds, and scored the next 5 goals against them. Keep the faith! :bluescarf: :occasion5: :bluebird: .

I would bring Sanderson back at full back,I know he had a poor game in the league against Fulham in the league but hopefully he has learnt from that and we need Bacuna back in midfield in place of Pack. Would also start with Ward rather than the ineffective Glatzel. I would also institute the cunning tactic of our players passing the ball to each other rather than Fulham players so that we have more than 22% possession.

If don't think we have any chance even if we score first Fulham have proved they are a much better team than us and we are simply incapable of beating them by two goals.

Well there you are harris if proof was needed to go for it from the start brentford have shown the way.

Glad you're not in charge, otherwise you'd be revealing our match plan to Fulham

Spot on, get that early goal and the heat will be on them big time. The longer they hold us off the dimmer the light will become!
