So costly

The second goal. 91st minute. Cairney ran straight into Morrison. The ref gave us very little such as Glatzel being taken right out in the first half. But the best team won. I think we have done really well to get into the playoffs and we are certainly trying to play football.

Exactly this is what I'm most angry about. Our performance wasn't that bad. They scored a good goal. Can't begrudge them that. But the second. Never a free kick! That's my anger!

And as someone else has said every time a Fulham player went over it was a free kick! Bennett got slapped so hard in the face you heard it on telly, he didn't even give that!!

If I’m being brutally honest, you were very poor. Disjointed, passing way off, unintelligent pressing falling into the traps they were setting, second to the ball, no ball retention... it was just bad.

Can’t keep blaming luck and refs guys.

Fulham are a class outfit and they showed it tonight. No shame in losing to them but credit where it’s due and also criticism where it’s due.

We played well first half but we were poor second half.

Cant take anything away from the first goal but we were done by a poor refereeing decision for the second goal like Brentford were for the sending off last night.

We looked nervous but we now have nothing to lose on Thursday and can just go and play. A early goal for us would totally change this tie

I saw nothing immediately wrong with either decision to be fair. Brentford one was correct by the letter of the law as castleblue posted earlier and the free kick for Fulham looked a foul as his path was actively blocked to the ball.

I think the culture and weekly mantra on here of blaming refs and luck needs to stop for your own sakes because it’s stopping many actually having critical thought of WHY you didn’t get the result you wanted.

Passing for passing sake tonight, love it if its Tomlin to Holiett, but Nelson to Morrison and Pack is another thing.

The ref gave at first contact but we didn't have control of the ball in the right areas to allow us to easily fall over.

The lack of a genuine striker has haunted us for seasons. Its like playing with 10 men with Glatzel as he can't make anything stick and is so slow centre halfs are quicker.

Let hope Harris can spot a championship striker. If we played with Ayew or Brewster that is a different game.

Of course you didn't.

Clarinet ran in to Morrison. Brentford player got the ball. If both were given as the opposite the fact is you couldn't argue that either. Both 5050s. I think we can moan when it goes against us. As Brentford can against them.

You're getting boring now n

So true. Replace Glatzel with Bothroyd and he'd have had a hatrick tonight.

If we had a striker this season we won have been close to top 2

So many missed chances by our strikers, mainly Glatzel its rediculous but people will still defend him Saying there is a player inside him somewhere . I see nothing to suggest he will make it here

2nd Goal costly - Yes , as NH said same sort of thing happened 1st half to 1 of our players but no free kick .

NH - I spoke to the ref after the match ...2 wrongs don't make a right - he said

You just agreed with me though?

You said they both had merit to go either way. So how can you argue if they were given as fouls?

I say it as I see it and both seemed legitimate outcomes, as you also seem to agree. So not sure why the hostilities.

You said we need to stop moaning about referees. So you agreed with me. The fact it could've gone both ways shows the ref made a poor decision (in one teams view). Why does your outcome have to be the correct one and we're not allowed to question it or be upset it? Oh I know. Cos you can't be wrong.

Don't fall for his trap, he knows what he is doing, he knows we will be frustrated that decisions went against us, he'll just keep saying we were poor, Swansea were good, thats the narrative, don't bite he's tried to wind you up and drag you in as always.

Eh? If something is 50:50 and could go either way by your own admission, then how can it be a poor decision?

What you mean is a frustrating decision as opposed to a poor one then?

Why would what I have said frustrate anybody?

I never said there is no such thing as luck. I said after 46 games you finish where you deserve to. There is a small element of luck that affects ALL teams and that luck comes in the form of good and bad.

Last game for example, we missed a penalty and didn't get another clear one and hit the inside of the post - many would say that was UNlucky. When using ''luck'' as a deciding factor in the outcome of things, there is nearly always due to an inherent bias as opposed to reality because it usually ignores the opposite.

Re: So costly

Sorry but I have to agree with the jack here we were piss poor for most of the match. At times it looked like a premier league side against a championship side which is probably what it will be next season. Getting fed up with Glatzel,he might be ok in Germany but not the championship. At times it looked like we reverted to the type of football that rightly got Warnock the chop no possession and when we do get possession we seem to lose it immediately.

I am one of the few who was happy with Harris being appointed and think he has done a good job but boy he has no idea how to play Fulham. He has now lost all six games he has managed against Fulham four for Millwall and two for us. He has lost the last three by an aggregate score of 8-0. For me last night was a step backward to the bad old days.

Anyone who thinks we will turn it around on Thursday is deluding themselves. Think we were unlucky to get Fulham in the semifinals we might have done better against an out of sort Brentford. Fulham are a bit of a bogey team for us and a massive bogey team for Harris.

Who on earth can argue against it? Its bizarre. You are, of course, spot on.
