It’s an uphill struggle now

Re: Gutted

Fulham will continue to pass it around at the back creating f**k all but keeping the ball away from us for 90 mins. Game over.

Bad tonight. Second leg if Cardiff can score its game on :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

Re: Gutted

We may have had a puncher's chance at 0-1, but 2-0 looks decisive, unless Fulham can borrow some defenders from Leeds.

The first 10 minutes on Thursdsy will be crucial . We get a goal its game on

Not a hope! Thank god no one will waste any money going to watch it. This is West Ham 2012 all over again. We did incredibly well to get in the play offs but Fulham will win again comfortably on Thursday. All I pray for now is a Brentford win on Wednesday and I shall sleep easy for the rest of the summer.

Kept the faith for decades! This is not a promotion side but I am proud of them getting this far, no shame. 3 v 0 in the second leg. Not bothered as long as Swansea get whats coming to them- nothing! Would love to see Brentford do it but the winner of our tie will be the team to go up.

Re: Gutted

The only positive I can take is that at least we don’t have to go into the 2nd leg under any pressure at all. We just as well go all out and attack. Probably wouldn’t even start a goalkeeper and just play with an extra striker.

Re: Gutted

Mon Jul 27, 2020 9:09 pm

No need to be gutted.

Sometimes you have to put your hands up and say we were beaten by the better side and tonight was one of those nights.

The players have done really well to get into the play offs and realistically that was all we could have asked for when Harris took over.

Hopefully he'll be able to do some wheeling and dealing over the next few weeks to give us a chance of doing better next season as there are a few glaringly obvious areas of the starting eleven that need improving.

We are capable of getting that goal we've just got to take the chance! We had several in opening 23mins and really should been at least 1 up I thought glatzel should gave gone for diving header when defender blocked ball it bounced up nicely for that to happen.... whilst no one as turned over 2 goals there is always a 1st time.

Have to agree, personally I'm hoping that t@sser Mitrovic plays the 2nd leg,as they,to me focus on him a lot more, where as without him they play better/ difgerent kind of football? We seemed to go at em in first twenty mins,in search of that elusive goal, then dropped of the pace somewhat, start with same intensity Thursday and grab that all important 1st goal, then it's game on again  yes it's a mountain to climb, but that's why people climb them, because they are there! Start with ward Vaulks and Murphy, and leave Glatzel,Hoilett, pack on the bench.for impact substitutions.nothing to lose now,c'mon city. :old: :bluebird:

Not speaking with hindsight but it was obvious Fulham would be better than us man for man but it’s gutting (to use OP’s phrase) to see so little fight and determination.

Instead after a bright start, the players just seemed to give up and allowed Fulham to play at will.

Re: Gutted

Tue Jul 28, 2020 7:17 am

The first goal is vital. We don’t necessarily need an early goal, just within the first hour. That’d create an pressure on them going into the final phase. They’ll know another goal will finish us off so they’d try to catch us on the break if we’re too gung ho from the start

Re: Gutted

Tue Jul 28, 2020 7:26 am

All I wanted to see was Smithies slamming the ball in the rieds face when he was preventing him kicking out!!! Horrible horrible tw*t.

Can't see them risking Mitrovic now at 2_0, keep him for final .( Which they will not get to )

City on pens.

so little fight is used far too much on here when we have been outplayed. we knocked them out of their stride for half hour and did not capitalise.. its not effort or fight we lack its the ability they have..
we desperately needed the first goal and do again at Craven Cottage.

Re: Gutted

Tue Jul 28, 2020 12:19 pm

We almost have to do something like this now

Smithies

Morrison
Nelson
Cunningham

Vaulks
Ralls
Bacuna

Tomlin
Mendez-Laing
Murphy
Glatzel

Go for broke basically

What an absolutely childish attitude, the attitude of an 8 yr old.Because your going to lose you hope Swansea will also, just how childish can you get.

Game over I’m afraid. 3-0 to Fulham on Thursday. Championship will be strong next season. Watford , Forest top two, Norwich and Bournemouth in top six. Stoke will have a good season. Perhaps this is Cardiff’s level now ?

Re: Gutted

An early goal and its game on big time. We need to stop them getting a foot hold on the game and start FAST and keep that tempo up.

Re: Gutted

Tue Jul 28, 2020 8:42 pm

Ward,Murphy and Vaulk’s need to come in for Glazel, Mendez and Pack, we need goals, let’s go for it, shit or bust!

Re: Gutted

i think everyone has to be realistic though, out of the 4 play off teams, we are the only one who doesn't "play football" you can call fulhams boring, passing at the back, but whilst they are doing that, our players are getting tired from chasing it, and then gaps appear, and they capitalise. my big worry goes back to when NW first came in, we never seem to know how to get the ball into the box, we ping a few balls, back and to the sides, run out of ideas and try to just launch it in the box

however, on paper, we are a team that should of finished 12th/10th. to get to the play offs was an achievement, and this is will probably be a high point for some time. NH needs to create a philosophy at the club, and bleed it down to the academy. if the fans can see we are trying to become a team that passes it and is more creative, fans will forgive him when we don't get results.

this summer will be NH's biggest transfer window IMO because if he doesn't get it right, i would be suprised if the board looks at things and see's "Play offs last year, nothing this year, we're going backwards"

i like NH, he's a good guy, i just wish we hired someone who could of come in, and tried to build a style of football that works. atm it seems to be a "less strict" NW brand football. you DON'T have to launch and hope.
