MT VIEW: NEIL HARRIS PUT OUT HIS STRONGEST & AN ATTACKING CI

Mon Jul 27, 2020 8:34 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

NEIL HARRIS PUT OUT HIS STRONGEST & AN ATTACKING CITY TEAM OUT / BUT FOR ME FULHAM OVER ALL CONTROLLED THE GAME & DESERVED THEIR VICTORY.

Fulham had class, Cardiff never.

For me Fulham deserved their victory without a doubt.

Fulham were without their star player Aleksandar Mitrovic and ex Cardiff City player Harry Arter.

Cardiff started very positively attacking from the first seconds and sustained it for long periods.

63% possession over all Fulham

second-half 78% possession for Fulham

Lee Tomlin first-half outstanding :bluebird:

Its not over thankfully, but boy its going to be very very tough at Craven Cottage and Fulham have the quality, but as they say football is a funny old game and you just never know Cardiff could still shock/surprise everyone. :bluebird:

CARDIFF CITY 0 FULHAM 2  (Semi-Final Play -off 1st leg).
H/T 0-0

Cardiff City: Smithies; Bacuna, Morrison, Nelson, Bennett; Pack, Ralls; Mendez-Laing, Tomlin, Hoilett; Glatzel.

Subs: Etheridge, Sanderson, Flint, Bamba, Smith, Vaulks, Murphy, Paterson, Ward. :bluebird:

Fulham: Rodak; Christie, Hector, Ream, Bryan; Reed, Cairney; Onomah, Decordova-Reid, Kebano; Knockaert.

Subs: Betinelli, Mawson, Sessegnon, Odoi, Le Marchand, McDonald, Johansen, Kamara, Jasper.

13th min great run by Tomlin, Bacuna great shot, saved on the line Fulham.

17th min Lee Tomlin once again making a shot for Glatzel who had his shot saved.

City had a few more chances, but as the game went on Fulham got more in to the game.

Tom Cairney in the 45th had a great 25yd shot for Fulham which flicked the post.

H/T 0-0

49th min Onomah put Fulham in front and fair play fantastic football, tore Cardiff's defence to pieces 0-1

Fulham took control.

Onomah won a header and nodded it into the path of Bobby Decordova-Reid, who shot his effort narrowly over the bar.

Fulham really did take more control of the game.

70th min

Triple City sub.

Hoilett off for Vaulks.

Murphy on for Mendez-Laing.

Ward on for Glatzel.

Cardiff came back in to the game, but as the game went on, Fulham for me easily controlled the game.

Second-half Fulham half.

in the 90th min Fulham made it 0-2

MY MAN OF THE MATCH LEE TOMLIN :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

That is 7 games they've won without mitrovic! And no team as overturned a 2 goal deficit in 2nd leg :o

Can't see us turning it around. Massive ask now.

Can't argue with the result, better team won tonight.

Don't really blame Harris because I thought he had the team selection right.

Fulham are just better than us.

Got to take our chances. Created more than enough for one or two goals.

Ref an utter shithouse. Gave us nothing all day starting with Glatzel getting cleared out first half.

One moment of class should've separated tonight.

Well beaten and uttermy outclassed tonight. Fulham deserve promotion we dont. Fair play not going to argue with it. Harris has done really well to get this far. Truly hope Brentford win on Wednesday now as Swansea have just been a fluke. We build for next season and feel positive we can have a go again.

1. Why is Marlon Pack anywhere near the starting 11

2. Why o why wasn't he taken off after his first blunder

3. Then has another blunder to cost us a second.

Only thing worse than Packs performance was Harris second half management

I don’t think we had a 5 minute spell where we looked like we could compete in this tie. The playoffs were always a bonus round for us this year, I have no complaints. Just wish the Jacks didn’t beat them at Wembley.

Let’s re group. We were over run. They looked more likely to score than us. On Thursday go for it, forget defencing and get in their half.

You can’t be happy with that performance. Looked much weaker of the play off sides on that evidence although Fulham looked excellent as expected.

More than double the shots and possession as the away side, that’s not good enough from a Cardiff perspective.

2-0 is a massive ask to turn around. Unfortunately even if we make it past Brentford, the thought of facing Fulham in the Final makes me shudder.

A fair result unfortunately. Our only hope is if we score first on Thursday and they have an off night. Looks unlikely but the fat lady hasn’t sung yet.

If we get a early goal its wide open again.

We should just go there and attack them

That last goal was a kick in the teeth but its still winnable .

Fulham ain't Man city or Liverpool.

The longer the went on the more we were never in it,too late bringing subs on.
Players looked tired and the passing game which has worked most of the time since the restart just wasn’t happening against this Fulham side.
It ain’t over just yet but there needs to be a huge turnaround in fortunes.

Great Post, Annis that wasn't our best attacking 11, Marlon Pack is atrocious, no defensive or attacking quality. Must start Vaulks on Thursday, although the tie is probably over, Fulham could panic if we score first.

We did well to get to the play offs but thats about it for us this season. We have been a right mess as usual and have not made it easy for us. Hopefully next season this crap will be behind us, we will be more stable and at least give ourselves a chance.

Very disappointing and frustrating end.

63% possession over all Fulham

second-half 78% possession for Fulham

Re: MT VIEW: NEIL HARRIS PUT OUT HIS STRONGEST & AN ATTACKIN

We would need to change most of the team if we got into prem anyway we are just not ready nowhere near simple another year to build but with no money in the offering and the teams that come down bournmouth watford it will bea tough ask next season

Re: MT VIEW: NEIL HARRIS PUT OUT HIS STRONGEST & AN ATTACKIN

Mon Jul 27, 2020 8:51 pm

Time to experiment on Thursday. We accept that we won't get £3 mill for Josh and try him as an out and out forward as I see no reason why Glatzel starts he offers nothing, absolutely nothing and he knows this is a step too far or we go radical and try Tomlin as a false 9. We are not going to beat Fulham playing with tonight's team selection. We have to score first and rattle them.

Why did he try and get into players shorts for 1st goal? All had to do was step back one foot and he could have blocked him off whatever way he went ! But no madevut easy to be turned and lost us the goal

sadly could/should of been up 2-0 (glatzel) then given a TOTAL’ football lesson

Pack has something that may attract a few teams, there is hope we can get a return and get him off the wage bill.

Going to be a strange closed season. No idea why Ward doesn't start at least he is a championship level striker unlike Glatzel and Paterson

Yes I'd heard Grange Quins were looking at Pack before tonight's shambolic performance put them off.

Turned inside, don't expect to see that at u14s grassroots never mind experienced defensive CM!!

Then he goes and does it again! For the free kick. Absolute shambles.

Harris subs were shocking!! Surely he's watching the same game as us. We didn't have a touch second half and his changes baffled at best, had 0 positive effect

I have no idea how a mobile Vaulks doesn't start that game!!

Carbon copy of the last league game. We were a distant second best.

Thought we were by far the better side before the first drinks break. After that Fulham tightened up and won their individual battles all over the pitch and completely outplayed us. Two bits of quality won them the game. Have to say it was Never a free kick for the second goal which is a real killer. On the rare occasion we got into a good position in second half we were very wasteful. Summed up Nelson getting in Morrisons way for a tap in and Bacuna trying a shot from 25+ yards when Murphy was in acres of space out wide. Long thrown needs to be scrapped in next game.

Pack was poor for the goal but Nelson was atrocious, he didn't look at the ball once and just followed his man. Awful defending all round
