Penalty takers ???

Mon Jul 27, 2020 12:26 pm

I wouldn't fancy us on Penalties, who would take them and in what order?

Providing these players are on the pitch after 120 minutes I go with Ralls, Tomlin, Murphy, NML and Ward in that order.

I wonder whether Harris is the type to pull Smithies off in the 120th minute to play Etheridge for pens. He saved 4 in the PL last season and I think he saved one early this season before he was dropped.
Anyone know how good Smithies is against penalties?

If I'm reading this right...

Career stats.
Faced 49. Saved 22 of them. That's damn impressive!

Smithies is known as a brilliant penalty stopper . His stats are amazing why would he put Etheridge in goal ?

As a side note , whilst at QPR ,Fulham had 3 penalties against Smithies in the same season. And scored none of them.

I would assume the first choice takers would be

Ralls
Tomlin
Glatzel
Hoilett
Pack

I take it back, in his career Smithies has saved 22 out of 49 pens. I was only going off what I’ve seen and that was that Etheridge is great at saving pens. Admittedly I don’t know too much about players performances at previous clubs.

I can’t see Tomlin Playing 120 minutes of football, unless Harris risksnot starting him!

Wow thats great news, what a penalty saving record Smothies has!!!

I have the feeling that Harris will have worked on penalties and will have his order sorted based on who's left on.

For a start Glatzel, Ralls and Tomlin all have very good penalty taking records. Hoilett has also taken them for us in the past and we have others too.

Wont need anyone to take them now? :?

We may well do mate, 2 nil is a tricky score halfway through a normal game, but a playoff semi with ninety minutes to go it's not over, but we will need to change things the way we are currently playing Fulham can deal with.

I think getting to penalties is too far of a stretch for us now unless we get an early goal on Thursday.

Shame because for the first time for ages we do seem to have penalty takers throughout:

Glatzel
Tomlin
Ralls
Murphy
NML
Hoilett
Ward
Pack

Put that with Smithies unbelievable record for saving penalties and you'd fancy your chances.

Trouble is I don't fancy our chances of scoring 2 or even stopping Fulham scoring again

It's a tall order I know but not impossible but cannot see it ending 2-0 to us or 3-1for that matter ... now 3-0 to us! :D ...

Well it's not impossible and there as to be a 1st time for everything so why not us turning over 2-0 deficit  :bluescarf:

We came back against League Champions Leeds who were three nil up at home with a vocal home crowd after 52 minutes, and had a player sent off for the last ten minutes.

When you compare it this is a piece of piss
