Ask Tan the question?

Tue Jul 21, 2020 9:17 am

Harris has exceeded all expectations this season, I think we can all agree.

Harris has the right to ask tan for money this summer regardless whether we go up or not.

We go up we need a fair few players.

We stay down and we are one or two off competing for top 2.

Tan has to find him in some sort of way. I hope he trust him to make some signings we will need it

i dont expect anything other than a couple of free transfers if we dont go up mate. the club like most clubs have lost a lot of money during the epidemic as has the owner...

Tans businesses have taken a battering in the last few months. His personal wealth has probably taken a £50-100 million hit

I don’t think throwing millions to buy players is top of his priorities at the moment

Yes Harris has earned the right to ask for transfer funding this summer.

However, Tan also has the right to refuse due to the financial impact of the Pandemic.

Finally I have seen many quotes which state that fans are not willing to put money in via season ticket purchases due to the lack of guarantee they will ever be able to watch a game. If fans won't put money in why should the owner?

Great point. Although a billionaire spending money vs fans worried about jobs etc are a lot different.

reading those posts is disappointing , but it is the same 3 or 4 moaning about being cash cows and the club being unfair all the time { possibly jacks } .. personally im excited by it and so are my friends judging by the texts and calls ive had regarding tickets going on sale...
best way to encourage an owner...support him... best way to piss him off moan about cheap as chips tickets

indeed, but if youve lost your job or can not afford for other reasons its not the clubs fault anymore than the cruise ship company whose cruise you can not afford...prices are cheap as chips compared to many clubs... plus, those moaning are serial moaners... moaned last year and the year before...

Correction if the rumours are true Tan isn't a Billionaire anymore only a down market multi-millionaire ;)

I believe if we go up we won’t need to sell any players and if we dont we will need to sell players.
There’s going to be a few more Wigans this summer.

It's Tan's money that has kept the club afloat that last few months. Trim some of the squad, get some of the academy in (if they arent producing players - then there is no point in having an academy).

Both Harris and Morrison (the coach not the player) have said similar I think. It will be the same for other clubs as well..

Hope that Tan's other businesses start to regain their finances - or they - us and Tan have had it.

Offloading any of the big earners is going to be virtually impossible anytime in the near future

No championship club is going to have a pot to piss in

Talking to some fans from other clubs I know and they all wish they had a Mr Tan.

To be honest, with even Premier League teams looking at their purse strings, I think there will be quite a few decent free agents this summer.

And being a top Championship club (knocking on the door of the Premier League) should put us in a commanding position for purchases of free agents.

Ahem! You mean it has been tans money that has kept us afloat, full stop, and even more so during these unprecedented times, can't see him splashing big bucks at all tbh,and tbf I'm ok with that.bring the youngsters through if we fail to get promoted, along with a few savvy free agents thrown in.If we get promoted, we will certainly be careful on budget imho, lots of clubs will be tightening their respective purse strings after seasons end. :old: :bluebird:

That's a really good point. I'm not expecting any significant transfer budget.

Promotion or not, hopefully we will pick up a few quality free agents, coupled with some academy players.

We need quality rather than our normal quantity. In my opinion we only need four players a right back with either Paterson or Whyte as back up. Definitely a goal scoring centre forward with Glatzel and Ward as backups, another creative mid fielder to compete with Tomlin,Ralls like the others are better in the 2/3 behind and another winger to replace Whyte who need to be sent out on loan or developed as a right back.
If we stay in the Championship we could sell Etheridge, Cunningham or Bennett,Flint or Bamba,Pack and either Murphy or Whyte to raise funds. In the Premier League no need to sell anyone unless Harris can get better on loan with Premiership experience.

TBH Harri I think you have completely missed the point of this thread. One we haven't got any money to recruit 'quality' even if no transfer fee is involved.

Secondly the players we have like Flint/Pack/Etheridge are unlikely to be sold as other clubs are even more skint than we are.

Neil Harries is a manager who can get a team going on a low budget - Championship Style ;)

Needs money either way next season - To build his squad :bluebird:
