Baleares Unjust

I was gutted to see that they were not promoted yesterday but am gladdened they have a second chance. They have been so good in recent years and always it seems get unlucky right at the very end. But again I question the bizarre situation that a team wins their league and is not promoted automatically. This should apply to any team in any sport. So Baelares like their opponents yesterday play almost 40 league games and prove themselves the best over the entire season which will have highs and lows and for their excellence in being the best by winning the league then are REWARDED with ANOTHER game. So the season therefore ALWAYS comes down to a one off game having gone though the season playing nearly 40. What plonkers have thought of this system? It is too dreadful for words. It is unfair and unjust for the club, players and fans. I hope for once they get some luck, seize their second chance. If any club deserves their just dues it’s Baleares. Good luck boys. Keep the faith. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

I fully agree it is a very unsatisfactory way to run a professional football competition. It is a extended tournament competition i.e. Atlético play in a 'group' not a league (in this case Segunda División B – Group 1) and if you win your 'group' then you qualify for the next round (i.e like the WC/EC final 16 round) but in this case the champions of each group (there are 4 groups) play each other in two fixtures with the winners being directly promoted. The two losers drop into a secondary play-off which includes 12 teams from the 4 groups who finished 2, 3 and 4th in their group.

The 12 other qualifiers from the groups play 6 fixtures with the 6 winners progressing. The 6 winning teams are joined by the 2 losers from the Champion fixtures and those 8 teams play off until 2 are left who are then promoted Segunda División.

As stated it is an unfair system because it is possible have one or even two Champion clubs failing to gain promotion while it is also possible to have two 4th placed teams getting promoted!

The problem is everyone knew the rules before a ball was kicked at the start of the season.

So gutted and the fans are so fed up and after being Champions once again.

4 Champions should go up, and 5th place play off teams
