Hi Annis,I get what you are saying  the press and media have been using scaremongering tactics AGAIN! , there are a lot more adverts for holidays at home too ;) this country doesn't want us to post holiday abroad this year, but in reality, those who want to go for some sun,and different scenery, other than the house in which they have been stuck in forthe last 4 months :roll
but have noticed that bookings for villa are picking up,its where the mrs and I are going in the 1st week of Sept.we thought we would give it a miss this year, but have changed our minds,as we will be nowhere near as restricted, as those who book a package holiday in a hotel for instance.it will be nice to get away for some deserved chill time. :old: :bluebird:

After saying I wouldn't get on a plane and it's dangerous, I've just booked to go to Ibiza in August.

I feel a lot more confident now that the numbers are dropping, flying from Cardiff which I feel will be quieter and hopefully safer, with mostly Welsh flyers and low levels of Covid 19 in the community.

It's a small calculated risk but I'm looking forward to a bit of sun and a change of scenery!

I was of the same train of thought, but am going, although the rate of new infections on mainland spain (where the villa is) is a little concerning of late  :old: :bluebird:

I know I saw that this morning, it is concerning and the number of people travelling through Spanish airports, fingers crossed both countries will get to grips with this its in everyone's interest.

Luckily I'm in a quiet resort in Ibiza, and hoping the Islands continue to have low or no cases?

Yes it's beginning to bother the mrs, as the villa is in bennisa, which is mainland spain, will be gutted though,as the government are thinking if cases continue to rise,it will remove it from the list of "bridge" countries! It's really quiet in benissa itself, and that was the reason we had changed our minds regards flying abroad, plus I was going to do a small bit of renovation whilst there,a few little bits of painting, and replacing a few bits here and there, rather than paying the agents to sort it,plus w are desperate for a change of scenery, and of course the sun! Fingers crossed things settle down  :old: :bluebird:

All exaggerated by UK media, in Mainland Spain now , its actually going down .

I do agree MALLORCA is far safer though.

Also I think UK is far worse than Spain.

7 deaths in the whole of Spain in Last 10 days Virus, it use to be sadly 1,000 a day.

It’s stupid for the UK gov to do this now, we still have more cases than spain I believe. It’s going to be around for a while yet, we just have to get on with it. If you are vulnerable or old then you wouldn’t go away anyway would you.

We have a situation where the scientists/doctors are in effect running the country. The need to protect lives is of course paramount, but it seems the 'experts' have realized they can now say/ask/claim/instruct practically anything and the Govt. will jump to it without questioning. I get the somewhat odd impression that the scientific community are almost hoping this thing lasts a good while longer, relishing the attention and reverence they're getting..

Well, that's both of our holidays gone, I can switch to Corfu or somewhere in Greece with TUI, cases are the lowest in Europe more or less, but I'm tempted just to cancel completely and have loads of weekend breaks at home?

It looks like Chris Whitty made the decision and advised ministers after 10 brits brought Corona back from Spain according to this?
