I remember 2009

Sat Jul 18, 2020 4:58 pm

Let's not get carried away.

Then just like now we needed 1 point or just a 4 nil loss to get the playoff place and just like our mighty club we were stuffed 6 nil by Preston and missed out by one goal.

I won't be counting my chickens until the fat lady is singing.

Not sure anyone is but I’m glad it is in our hands. A draw Wednesday and no other result matters to us.

It was in our hands back then and we blew it.
Hull will be going for the win and they need to win by 4 clear goals so it will be an open game.

As much as i liked Dave Jones teams and his style of football id like to think Neil Harris and this team in particular have more steel and mental strength than the team of 2009.

I take your point and agree with your sentiments but I think your memory is playing tricks with you. We lost at Sheff Wed not Preston and by the single goal if I remember. rightly. The six nil defeat at Preston was about six games beforehand, which at the time did not seem so significant but in the end caused a 12 goal swing in the goal difference and we in the end we lost out by one goal. I am sure if we had known at the time that a 4-0 defeat would have been ok, we would have achieved it.

we were very much in the same spot though, playing a team with nothing to play for regarding going up or down.. and needing either a point or Preston to drop points..

Not sure too many are getting carried away? For most, just getting to the play-offs would be seen as a genuine achievement; particularly after our lacklustre start and where we were at close of play before Covid-19

Assuming we stay in the top 6 on Wednesday night, anything that happens from here on in should be considered a massive bonus and Neil Ap Harris should gain the plaudits that he deserves; and Manager of the Year wouldn't be too mad a thought

Let's remember where we were and how far we have come as a team and as a support group! :ayatollah:

I was at that game.

We went into it in dreadful form. We never recovered from the 6-0 hammering from Preston. We lost our last game at NP 3-0 to Ipswich before this game. We look totally lost and when your team is like that the last manager you want in charge is Dave Jones.

Of course we should not get carried away but we are in better shape than then. It will be a massive shock if we don't make the play off now. It will be on the same scale as when Dave Jones failing to get us promoted with the likes of Bellamy. Personally I can't see us losing to Hull. However I will start relaxing when I hear that the Jacks have gone behind at Reading.
