Quick question folks,if/when we get promoted, what do you believe needs to happen? My only concern is,will we spend and try to stay up this time? Are you happy to yo yo for a couple of years,or should we spend a decent amount this time,in a bid to survive there? After the season being so badly disrupted ,and the financial burdens it has brought with the virus, would it be wise to try and survive, as it will be a different football scene after this year sure? I wouldn't mind a few seasons of yo yoing, if it enables us to be self sufficient, as this would make us an attractive proposition to prospective buyers, should Vincent Tan decide to sell,I personally believe apart from the re brand balls up,Vincent Tan has been the best owner in my time, that we've had,I know some may disagree, and that's OK, it's just my personal belief.Have always been an advocate of "better the devil you know" belief. Also,do you think Harris will be in charge, should he achieve what none of us thought he would? I'm a big believer in giving a manager that achieves promotion, at least a shot at it,it's only fair imho.we all knew warnock didnt like the premier league (his words) but we all (nearly!) Knew he struggled in his time there previously, but afforded him the right,as he had earned the dream, and got us up.so for me if we go up (when

) Harris has to be given a shot at it.and lastly, who do you believe we would keep on reaching the promised land if any? For me,a massive overhaul would be needed, and better players brought in,if we are not to be whipping boys.cheers guys, keep the faith

Always think it's foolish to get ahead of ourselves and think beyond the next game

Totally agree

Agree with the "not get ahead of ourselves sentiments"
But speaking hyperthetically I think ANY CLUB who gets promoted needs to buy enough quality to more or less guarantee they stay in the Premier League
There are clubs who purposely dont buy enough and they accept they are there to enjoy one season. And for these it doesnt effect their budget too much.
The danger is when you take the chance you buy what you think might be enough and end up in that grey-area (as we have done in the past) and end up relegated and with cashflow issues.
I think clubs either need to go for it - and make sure - or not go for it at all

Obviously without getting ahead of ourselves id like us to sign players who are young, and would be a good investment and we could develop, and who are too good for the championship but if we did go back down they'd hopefully stay and help us fight to go back up. People will obviously have different opinions on what we'd need as experience matters too (look at Norwich this season) but it would be nice to see a younger side with lots of energy which im pretty sure is Harris remit anyway.

This makes good sence to me

Excellent question.
I've only just pondered this as now it is looking good for us to gain a play off spot. My mindset has been one of building a team to compete in the Championship with the youngsters coming through from the Academy. Once we were producing the fruits of that then the next stage would be gaining promotion and carrying it on into the Premier. However, if we get Premier status before that happens then we would be foolish not to try and adapt to it.
With all that in mind I personally don't think we are ready. We do have Premier experience but is it Premier quality? Morrison for me is the only real deal we have. NML is knocking on the door but the rest need to prove themselves and that would be the gamble. I think we need too much to come in to stand a chance. We go with what we have and gamble on the likes of Vaulks, Gatzel, Tomlin, Ward or Pack etc etc proving themselves or we go and bring in others and gamble on squad unity. Personally I can't see Tan going for the later.
Taking all that into consideration I would be content to be a yo yo club. Unfortunately we are not a Newcastle or West Ham and it would be very difficult to do.

We spent plenty last time just not in the right areas. Other clubs like Fulham wasted several times the amount we did and finished miles below us. It not about how much you spend it about bringing in the right players in the right areas of the field and then it comes down to coaching. Look at Sheffield United this season coaching gets you a lot further than just throwing money around on players. Everton and West Ham for example have been doing that for years without achieving anything from it.

Realistically we have little chance of staying up (need to many good players) but we need to buy players that can do a good job in championship to build us up for another promotion campaign and give us better chance if do go up..

What a wonderful problem to have.
Our recruitment last time was shocking and we still almost stayed up.
The two purchases for "the future" in Reid and Murphy have not proven to be for the future at all. And our three loans Arter, Niase and Camarasa have all subsequently not continued to play PL football in one way or another.
Out of those five, only Camarasa really PL good enough.
So anything better than that for half the money please!
I do think we had problems with clubs not trusting Warnock with loans of young talent, or maybe Warnock didn't want them, but think we will have a better chance with Harris in that regard whatever division we are in.

History tells us that if we don't invest then relegation is certain.

If we go up, I think we have a better chance of staying up as there a quite a few teams that are certain to be in the bottom half and we should have a decent chance of being in the mix above the bottom 3

It's werd. I love the chapionship and haven't really enjoyed either of our stints in the Prem bar a few games here and there.
I said this to my wife yesterday and she said ' Why are you desperate to go up then?'
Apart from the ££££££, I didn't have an answer

the answer is hope mate... hope that next time its better..
i also think maybe the Prem is quite fresh in the mind.. and its easy to forget how much worse it was when we had 2 bottom 3 finishes in the 4th tier in the 90s

Yup, I agree. I remember the dreaded Durban era
