Even the 'hoofs' at the end seemed to stick to Ward.

2 Games to go - It's in our hands :bluebird:

There was a 10 minute period in the first half where we hardly touched the ball but the shape and discipline was so good that for all their possession Derby hardly got a shot at Smithies' goal.

Solid performance.

Apart from that period, derby were very average and didn't have a sniff at our goal

Can’t recall Smithies having to do much apart from fielding back passes, catching a few poor free kicks and picking the ball out of the net.

One of our better performances of the season that.

Pack, Bacuna, Hoilett and Bennett had good games. Plus the magic man of course :ayatollah:

Actually it was a plan as ward had beating of defenders and got plenty of knockdowns.. so not aimless compared to previous games or under warnock :occasion5:

Massive credit to Harris in my opinion. For me, Sanderson has been good in general since joining, but the last couple of games he looked out of sorts. Fair play to Neil Harris for making the tough calls and bringing in Bacuna. I didn't watch the full game (not even sure if you could've), but it panned out - at least with the final result. Well in gaffer!

Excellent job firstly by the manager for tactics and secondly the players for the discipline in carrying out the game plan.

Also, without having a dig at a certain person, wasn't it nice seeing a Cardiff side playing football again maybe just maybe we are heading back to the days of Dave Jones stylish football which was a pleasure to watch but can just get over the line he couldn't which was a shame.

Has Harris earned the ' barmy army ' chant yet ? I think so. :ayatollah:

I think clubs and managers get lazy in preparing for us. However they dress it up they essentially say we need to combat the hoof ball and throw ins into the box and underestimate our players ability. You don't get to the level that we have without your players having that ability. What Philip Cocu said pre match
Derby County manager Phillip Cocu: "I think both teams will need a win.

"With only three games left you need three points to keep pushing for a play-off spot. They are quite direct, more direct-playing team.

"They are dangerous with set plays. Midfield with a lot of physical power and runs in behind, anticipating, passing to their striker and second balls.

"We have to be really focused and anticipate that part of the game, pick up second balls keep defensive shape and then its up to us if we have possession to play our own game against them."

Playing with a more natural striker and a well balanced midfield we were able to carve them open and make the most of their errors. Personally I am all for playing a little more controlled football but not taking goal kicks to a player in your own area who is about to be closed down. To me it shows a lack of footballing nous. The trick is to be good enough to play in the right places. The commentators last night were waxing lyrical about that spell when they kept possession for a long time but they did nothing with it. Shortly after with far less possession we opened them up twice. Like many people I was a little disappointed when Neil Harris was appointed. I didn't criticise the appointment but felt a little underwhelmed. To me however with many of the same players he inherited he has turned the playing style around sufficiently to give us different options and far less easy to predict as evidenced by tonight. We are still not there yet and if I am honest I have mixed views on whether we progress to the Premier which is far too lop sided, dominated by money (made worse by the CAS decision) and VAR which is still interpreted in certain clubs favour (imho). Roll on Saturday to see how our new style contrasts with the old
