MY VIEW:TONIGHT WAS A MUST WIN GAME FOR THE BLUEBIRDS & THEY

Tue Jul 14, 2020 8:39 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION: TONIGHT WAS A MUST WIN GAME FOR THE BLUEBIRDS & THEY GOT THE THREE POINTS IN A MATCH THEY DOMINATED FOR LONG PERIODS.

3pts and its all in Cardiff's hands now the play-offs with only 2 games left.

Its still close, but City are in the driving seat and if they can hold their nerve then it will be the play-offs for Cardiff City.

Boro away next, Neil Warnock.

Lee Tomlin for me was excellent tonight :bluebird:

Cardiff City dominated the first-half against a very poor Derby side and should of been winning but for poor finishing & some excellent saves by their keeper.

Lee Tomlin was everywhere :bluebird:

Derby had only got one point from the last 9pts.

CARDIFF CITY 2 DERBY COUNTY 1 :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:
H/T 1-1

Cardiff City:(4-2-3-1): Smithies; Bacuna, Nelson, Morrison, Bennett; Pack, Ralls; Mendez-Laing, Tomlin, Hoilett; Glatzel.

Subs: Etheridge, Sanderson, Flint, Bamba, Smith, Vaulks, Murphy, Paterson, Ward.

First 15mins, some woeful shots at the Derby County goal by Tomlin & Hoilett.

16th min then a dreadful mistake at the back by Derby gave Hoilett the ball, for him to easily slot away 1-0 :bluebird: :bluebird:

All one way traffic by City :bluebird:

Lee Tomlin makes Derby keeper Kelle Roos make a great save.

Derby had been awful, then A devastating break from Derby . Curtis Nelson was drawn out of position and it left the Rams with a two on one.

Louie Sibley Drove towards the defence before sliding Jason Knight through, who emphatically walloped it into the roof of the net and made up for his costly mistake earlier 1-1

Derby got more in to the game, but City looked way more threatening.

Tomlin sent the ball out to Hoilett on the far side of the box and the winger tried to bend it into the far corner.
A diving Roos just denies him! Incredible save by the Derby keeper.

For me Lee Tomlin was City's best player.

H-T 1-1 :bluebird:

Smithies was called upon with in minutes and had to make a good save for Cardiff.

Tomlin created a couple more good chances.

59th min Lee Tomlin put City ahead and deservedly so 2-1 :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

City continued to press.

Lee Tomlin came off Vaulks came on.

Glatzel off, Danny Ward came on.

Danny Ward latched on to a ball down the channel and crossed it, only for it to be intercepted by Matt Clarke in the box.

Junior Hoilett outmuscled the defender and managed a shot, but it' was a corner off the keeper.

Joe Ralls hit the cross bar.

Paterson came on for Pack.

MY MAN OF THE MATCH: LEE TOMLIN :thumbright: :bluebird:

Massive win and we deserved that.

A good performance and a huge three points.

I was a bit worried about Wayne Rooney tonight but he was dreadful for them.

Huge win. Well deserved. Wayne who? What a spent force he is, wasteful in possession and he barely runs. Loved Tomlin picking his pocket for the winner!

Great result. Lots of energy. Everyone played well. Should really have scored a few more.

Tactics, team and substitutions spot on. Take a bow Harris.

Boro winning should really see them safe too. Big results for us.

Rooney really is finished
His legs have gone badly since he went to America.
Its a shame to see a good player drop like that he should retire

That was a vital win tonight. If we drew we would have been joint 6th with Millwall on GD. Another big night of football tomorrow now with the gypos v Forest and Brentford v Preston. It was all to play for and City won a mini cup final tonight and are in the driving seat.

A mistake from Wayne Rooney gifted Cardiff City a huge victory in their Championship play-off bid as they effectively ended Derby County's hopes of gate-crashing the top six with a 2-1 win in the Welsh capital.

The crucial moment came just before the hour mark when England's record scorer dallied in possession and was dispossessed by Lee Tomlin, who raced clear and scored Cardiff's winner.

The visitors were the architects of their own downfall having also gifted Cardiff the lead when Jason Knight's awful back-pass was intercepted by Junior Hoilett, who calmly rolled the ball into the net in the first half.

Knight made amends with a thumping finish to level after a super Derby break, but then came the blunder from player-coach Rooney.

The win means Cardiff remain sixth and with their play-off hopes in their own hands, while Derby are six points adrift and - barring an extraordinary run of results - consigned to another season outside the top flight.

A massive 3 points tonight, need that badly  we need to perform like that till seasons end! If we believe what Harris says, this is how he wants his team to play, then I'm happy with that,a refreshing change to hoofball, let's hope he gets the players he wants whatever the outcome (promotion ;) ) credit to him,and to the players for adapting the style of how we normally play, long may it continue  well at least for the last 5 games of this season. :old: :bluebird:
