Do you need a rest?

SEAN MORRISON:

"I’m talking on behalf of myself and the lads, but across the country, it is tough. Not only physically, but mentally.

"We had three and a half months of nothing and we were dying to get back to it.

"I’m not going to sit here and complain. Body is tired, brain is tired, but, come tomorrow night, the whole group will be ready to go.

"Wembley is the goal, ever since the new manager came in. Once you’re in there it’s a lottery.

"If you can perform over 180 minutes and get yourself to Wembley it’s there for the taking.

"Whoever gets there earns promotion to the Premier League."

You try playing professional football, 270 minutes in a week as well as training ever day and see how you feel after.

Ah shit, I was hoping to have a rest today after a busy few weeks but I didn’t realise it was reserved for builders only. Gutted :/

Or better still, accept that lots of people (footballers included in their own different way) actually work hard and it's not just about 90 minutes once or twice a week

As the saying goes, walk in another's shoes for a week and then comment on whether they work hard or not; it's all relevant

Or perhaps you're another who can't see past their wages? ;)

Bit of a glib comment from you IMHO; but I'm a bit confused how you can be posting at 09:30am, if you're on site and hard at work? :? ;)

No doubt the players are tired, but is playing football hard?,I stated a building site for an example, like I said clearly not listing every occupation available,I know what I d rather be doing for a living,my point was there is a difference,as for wages not sure where you got that from,
I don’t have a problem with what anyone earns,But my view is footballers earn way to much,I actually do feel for the players in the lower league scrapping by,
As for working hard and using my phone,it is possible,I do find it a bit sad though you actually checked the time I posted lol,by the way it’s 15:22,had two seconds to check thought I’d save you the bother

Professional football is hard work physically in stages but it wouldnt be as draining as a full time physical job and part time sport.
Maybe they should try working a full time job whilst fitting in playing 5 a side midweek and 11 a side Saturday and Sunday between looking after your family and having a social life earning lower a year than most of these footballers earn a week .

They don't train every day

Some sessions are not physical and they work on tactics watch videos of opponents etc

When they travel it is in luxury not cramped in a van

They get food prepared and cooked for them by trained chefs and dont have to go to thevspar for a crusty egg sandwich and Mars bar

I would say It is definitely harder in a full time normal job both mentally and physically than being a footballer.

Most footballers wouldnt last a week in some full time jobs but they deserve what they get as they sacrificed a lot as youngsters to get to the level required to earn that way of life

What a pointless argument. This squad is - at least arguably, overachieving. Can we just accept that, at the very least - even if just for footballers - they're working as hard as they can to try and deliver Premier League football to us again? Good luck to the lads. I believe.

I didn't expect you to bite so easily (on the timing bit ;) ) and I am certainly not bothered what you do for a living, if anything, but the point remains; you don't know how hard people work until you walk a day in their shoes...

There are hard workers and hard shirkers in most professions and football is no different. I assume you watched the Bluebirds last night; in which case you will have seen 11+ players works their socks off for the team, the manager and the genuine supporters...or perhaps they didn't work hard enough for you in beating a Wayne Rooney-led team that on paper at east should have beaten us?

They certainly have my gratitude and I personally believe they've worked hard to get where they are right now (on the pitch and on the training ground)

Definitely not a bite Sven, just an observation on how badly you wanted to try and prove a point,my point of them being tired was taken off track by some pointless replies,we ve all got our own opinions on situations, some people agree some obviously don’t,so yes some work hard in games,we ve had countless threads in the passed, especially after a loss about how lazy a certain player was,but when I see tired?after a game They should all be out on there knees, but what about the day after?,a day off no doubt,or light relaxation or a message?
