RIVAL WATCH: WEEKEND OF 11th/12th JULY 2020

Sat Jul 11, 2020 1:15 pm

Game 3: Swansea v Nottingham Forest KO 1:30pm Sun 12/07/202

Swansea 0 - 1 Leeds United (Pablo Hernandez 89 mins)

A rather tame first half with little more than half-chances sees a goalless period

Half-time: Swansea 0 - 0 Leeds United

The second half kicks off and sees Leeds start as the more productive side and Swansea looking like they want to avoid defeat more than win the game

Swansea look lucky to have 11 players on the field, as Costa is pushed to the floor and moments later a challenge through the back is left unpunished

Swansea looking like they're content simply not to lose but almost pay the price as Patrick Bamford goes close with a header

Leeds in the ascendancy right now

GOOOOOAAAAALLLLL! Leeds United (Pablo Hernandez 89 mins)

FINAL SCORE: SWANSEA 0 - 1 LEEDS UNITED

The Bluebirds remain in 6th place and occupy the final play-off place! :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluebird: :D

Re: RIVAL WATCH: WEEKEND OF 11th/12th JULY 2020

Sat Jul 11, 2020 1:25 pm

Game 1: Derby County v Brentford KO 12:30pm Sat 11/07/2020

Derby 0 - 1 Brentford (Watkins) 3 mins
Derby 1 - 1 Brentford (Knight) 29 mins
Derby 1 - 2 Brentford (Benrahma) 49 mins
Derby 1 - 3 Brentford (Benrahma) 64 mins (*Watch this 'worldy' goal in the highlights programmes!)

A great start from Brentford saw them take an early lead through Ollie Watkins and looking the part as they seek to close in on the automatic Championship promotion places

Derby hold on in there and get their reward with a goal from Jason Knight just before the half hour mark

Half-time: Derby County 1 - 1 Brentford

Early in the second half, Said Benrahma restores Brentford's lead and they go looking for more, as Derby struggle to keep them in check

Just after the hour mark, Said Benrahma cuts in from the left, runs around his man and unleashes a curling ball from outside the lefthand angle of the Derby penalty area and the ball sweetly bends around Derby keeper Hamer and into the top righthand corner of the net for his second goal of the game. Pure class!

Brentford continue to have the better of the game but Derby are still trying and could carve a chance out at any stage

Berahma is replaced and the game settles down a little, as Brentford see the game out in some comfort to the final whistle, do the Bluebirds a mighty favour ahead and close in on the top two (Leeds and West Brom) as a result!

One game (of three) out of the way and the Bluebirds remain 6th and in the final play-off place! :ayatollah:

FINAL SCORE: DERBY COUNTY 1 - 3 BRENTFORD

Game 2: Preston North End v Nottingham Forest KO 3pm Sat 11/07/2020

Preston 0 - 1 Forest (Grabban) 5 mins - penalty
Preston 1 - 1 Forest (Stockley) 15 mins

A great start from Forest, as they take an early lead through Lewis Grabban

Preston get back on level terms through Jason Stockley, who is on a mini run with two goals in two games after a barren run

Sami Ameobi playing for Forest and showing why we didn't (try to) keep him with a simple miss and the score stays level at 1-1

Preston dealt a blow with Ben Davies going off injured and the half ends

Half-time: Preston North End 1 - 1 Nottingham Forest

The second half sees a stalemate develop and the score remains the same and the Bluebirds remain in 6th place!

FULL-TIME: PRESTON NORTH END 1 - 1 NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Allan, with some reservation due to the nature of the Championship, it's looking good right now and we can only look forward

If things stay as they are, we go into Sunday still in 6th place with Wales' No.2 team facing a Leeds United side that know a win will not only maintain the gap but pretty much see them promoted with as little as a draw from their final three games

Bielsa will certainly have them 'up' for the task! :occasion5:

Swansea put up a good fight but deserved to lose and did as they didn’t really try to win just stop Leeds, Hernandez scoring as well :laughing6:

Swansea now have a tough game, with 24 hours less rest than Forrest, and they looked shattered at the end.

We also have a tough game against Derby, but we have 24 hours more rest which could be the difference in the next set of games.

Every team needs to win midweek not only us! could be a very interesting last day as with exception of millwall our rivals have 2 difficult games left before last game.. millwall have not and could possibly win last 3 games on their form .

Every team needs to go for win Tues because any team below us that doesnt win Tues are effectively out running at least we've got option that we draw still in with a chance all be it relying on swans to not win wed.. then we need them to drop points in one of their last 2 games if they do win.... :old:
