MY VIEW / OPINION

“ CLASS / THE FINAL THIRD / TAKING YOUR CHANCES “

This was a game in my opinion that Cardiff could not afford to lose.

City did not take their chances tonight and at times played well, but Fulham’s class came through and win the 3pts.

Three games left but now out of Cardiff City’s hands.

We actually played well, but class won the game.

It’s about taking your chances and City never.

Money talks and Fulham have more quality in their squad and the final third City failed.

Over all I feel City deserved a draw at half-time.

FULHAM 2 CARDIFF CITY 0

H-T 1-0

Cardiff City (4-2-3-1): Smithies; Sanderson, Morrison, Nelson, Bennett; Vaulks, Bacuna; Mendez-Laing, Ralls, Hoilett; Paterson.

Subs: Etheridge, Flint, Bamba, Smith, Pack, Tomlin, Murphy, Ward, Glatzel.

First-half Cardiff were the better side for 20mins, the penalty given away by Sanderson was a penalty 1-0
City hit the bar from Joe Ralls.

City still went forward but Fulham had a great shot saved by Smithies.

Over all I feel City deserved a draw at half-time.

Our strongest point is dead ball goals best in league but tonight that ball in middle from whatever way as been extremely poor ... think we can still get playoffs but going to be tight

A hard working, plodding performance from City but not good enough tonight or for the play offs.
Still an outside chance of course.

I thought we played well but Fulham's quality showed when it comes to cutting edge.

All we can do now is hope for a few favours from other clubs this weekend.

Pleased to see us battle until the end.

If we are still in the top six on Sunday night, then I believe we will stay there.

Fulham were full value for their win tonight.

I'm not embarrassed, we played as best as we could but Fulham were better.

3 winnable games left

I just dont understand why we keep trying Murphy, 5 touches and 5 times gave ball away.
Chances in 1st half but didn't take them.
Money talks. 3 games left do start with a striker please. :bluebird: :bluescarf:

Fulham did a job.

Soft penalty but the right decision.

Good second goal. No one really at fault.

Lots of energy, some good periods with the ball, even some good counters...then the final ball...

Crosses, throws, passes around box, all very very poor.

The delivery of that final ball is what let us down tonight.

We played poorly because of poor tactics and team selection

Fulham were better because we let them play with our set up

Re: MY VIEW: TONIGHT / CLASS / TAKING YOUR CHANCES AND

We played reasonably well tonight. A very 'professional' pen against a naive Sanderson was the marginal difference in the first half. It was right he was hooked. We didn't take our chances and deep down we are just not good enough. Harris has done well to get us close. Even if we scrape into the play offs this is not a promotion side. I hope Brentford go up rather than Fulham. Mitrovic has made a career out of feigning penalties and their team lack class.

Ned just took look at teams remaining fixtures and if can beat derby our last two games are more favorable than our rivals .... Preston may turn out the surprise package to sneak in

Totally agree.

Not feeling negative tonight because I still feel confident of our chances. I don't think Swansea will get top six and agree about Preston.

They have far better players than us. We are far too imbalanced.

Our lack of a forward option to play to the style of the squad has and will also hurt us. Watching the 2010 play off game with Leicester with Jay as the target man showed the touch that Paterson hasn't got and the strength and physicality that Glatzel can only dream of.

The lack of a right back will also kill us for the next 3 games.

Cardiff City we are, not Man City.

We are who we are, some of our supporters need to accept that.

We fight on, still time yet, but pretty excited for next season looking at the little things that Harris is bringing in to the club.

I dont understand the point you are making ? What has getting tactics and selections wrong got to do with Man City?

I think some of our supporters need to accept we are under achieving in a poor league. Not sure what harris is bringing in al I saw tonight was warnock ball tactics

How are we under achieving?
We have spent nothing, we have nobodies, Harris is working with someone elses squad and we're 6th!

We are mixing pass and move with long ball.
We're starting to see players making runs off the ball, clever little flicks and moves.
Things we havent seen at this club for years.

Poor league? Rubbish. The Championship is arguably the most competitive and level leagues in the world. What exactly should Harris have done differently then? This game turned on Mitrovic feigning a penalty against a naive youngster but that's why he is worth 30m. Thats the difference. We are not quite good enough this year but under Harris we are not far off. Look at where Stoke are. An ex premier league side. I am pleased we are competing where we are. Get behind the team and manager and quit complaining.

Thought we did okay tonight. Difference being about 150 million and a wage bill about 5 times ours. Can’t criticise our players or manager. One thing I still can’t get my head round is How the hell do you class Josh Murphy a footballer he’s woeful

How can you say we have spent nothing ?

Just the team from tonight who played - approximate reported fees

Smithies - £4 mill
Morrison - £4 mill
Vaulks - £3 mill
Bacuna - £4 Mill
Glatzel - £5 Mill
Murphy - £11 mill
Tomlin - £2.5 mill

Thats nearly £35 million pound on half of the team tonight without even looking at the rest of the squad like Flint at £5million plus, players like Whyte, Vassell and Pack who were also in the multi millions to buy.

Then look at highly rated players like Etheridge (to some) mendez laing , junior Hoilett , Bamba , Nelson .

This is a very good squad which should easily be top 6 if managed correctly.

I didnt see any clever flicks or moves I only watched hoofball from us.

Everyone says its the best league but its not. Its competitive yes but this season it is low on quality compared to previous seasons . That is shown by the fact a average West brom side are top and teams like Preston and forest are in play off contention.
Why pick a stoke side that have been out-of the premier for a number of years ? They have no relevance to it whatsoever.

I am behind the team that's why I said we are under achieving as unlike you I have faith in there ability as a squad where you think lower of them . Maybe its you who should get a bit more faith in them. If I want to moan about a poor performance I will and dont need to be told what to do by you.

Since harris came in during November our points haul is top two of the league not bad considering he had to change way we played under warnock! You are in a very small minority who thinks we play hoofball .. :o

How was that not hoofball tonight ?
It was a warnock performance through and through.

Long aimless balls to patterson
constant Long throws to Morrison
Wingers in full back positions

It hasn't always been like it under Harris but tonight it was and normally is when Patterson starts

I'm definitely not in the minority

What have preston spent ?
What have Brentford spent ?
What have forest spent ?
What have swansea spent ?

Being honest the only clubs who have spent more are fulham and leeds. You say its outdated but 5 of the 7 i listed were bought within the last 2 years .
Your obviously someone who thinks whatever happened last season doesn't count and we should spend every season

Murphy was only on for 5 minutes and he actually won two free kicks after being fouled, more than Hoilett did in 86 minutes! He should have been brought on at half time with Glatzel and Tomlin, we might have scored a couple of goals like we did against Blackburn!

We were a better team than Fulham last year but they have taken two of our players from last season, have the best striker in the league and have added other players whereas we have gone backwards. To score goals we have to play Tomlin, Glatzel and Murphy with Ward as sub and hope our defence performs better than they did in the last two games!

We are far too imbalanced, We have been all season,,, thanks mainly to NW transfer activities last Summer.

NH has been playing catch up ever since he arrived, and in fairness has improved the team with what he inherited,,,, but it’s going to be a busy close season if he is to bring in the four or five quality players that I believe we need to really improve the team, and move on up next season.
