' FROM THIS SATURDAY '

Thu Jul 09, 2020 7:47 am

Due to holiday makers coming from the Uk & Germany, from this Saturday every person on the Balearic Islands, Mallorca, Ibiza, Minorca, Formentera etc have to now wear face masks on the streets or anywhere in public places and in the burning heat.

Yes it was compulsory on public transport and shops, but not on the streets.

Bars and Restaurants still ok.

To be fair allan,I was of the same way of thinking a while back, but as we have a private place in benissa (calpe, spain) have decided on a week in September, just myself and my wife, which will be a change from a villa full of kids/grandkids ;) just to totally wind down,do some painting of a different scene (I'm no Picasso :laughing5: ) so will not be restricted as much as others on package deal holidays to hotels, and will have a good size pool all to ourselves,so literally landing, stocking up at supermarket with essentials, and CHILL.for the wee on the sun loungers doing sweet f.a  :old: :bluebird:

Sounds just right being two of you! I couldn't bare thought of hassle at airports with social distancing and waiting for flight as sure to have spike over winter... our destination lockdown wont effect us as it as self contained with 3 beaches and a shop bars restaurants ect.. musnt forget fishing from decking for barracuda! I'm just playing safe so can have chilled holiday from time leave house... :occasion5:

Similar to us. We have a villa in Portugal and hope to travel in August.

Hopefully, diving trips in in July and October and all being well S.E Asia in December.

f**k it, I’m travelling and enjoying myself if the FO deems it’s ok and the planes are flying!

Self catering or a private villa is definitely way to go! If you go to an hotel must remember there is no buffet and social distancing in place so could be long wait and large ques for food.... by pool again social
distancing in place dont be surprised to see half the sunbeds available that's probably a problem if no beach near .. and suspect beach the same suspect be more things to make holiday less than relaxing... sounds gloomy but this is the scenario facing holiday makers abroad especially Europe :old:

To be honest, was planning turkey for august, that went out the window,so spent best part of holiday funds, doing our place up,and purchasing furniture, Inc a v.expensive mattress! (Well worth the money in all truth  ) so we then decided to hire a camper van, and do the Welsh coast last week, that was cancelled as the 5 mile rule wasn't lifted in time! ! Lost deposit of £250 :banghead: so weren't planning on flying anywhere, but have decide we will,as we can handle the airports, then after that, it's just the two of us in a car, shopping and villa,in that order.we are fully prepared for a very chilled out week together, will have all we need, without the crowds of people.it's a very tranquil little village, with a few places to eat,a few shops for essentials, and a supermarketabout 3km away.bit envious of your plans though, have done scuba diving only twice, fitly in bodrum Turkey, around 16 years ago,and again in Egypt 4 years back, turkey was quite plain, with few colourful fish, egypt (red sea) was something else! Like being in a huge fishtank, with all the colours of the rainbow, absolutely fantastic.my brother in law asked what it was like after turkey, then went and had lessons and became qualified, went to Antigua,Belize, Mexico, had the time of his life, then tragedy struck,he had throat cancer, and has a permanent tracyostomy, so cannot dive anymore :sad7: he has just had a special valve fitted which has enabled him to swim, for the first time in years whilst in Turkey last summer.hope all goes to plan for you mate, and I have become of the same way of thinking,F@CK IT! I'm flying if allowed to too  :old: :bluebird:

Making face coverings mandatory in shops in England is being considered by the government to slow the spread of coronavirus, senior sources have said.

Speaking in a Facebook Q&A video, Boris Johnson hinted at the change saying: "We are looking at ways of making sure that people really do have face coverings in shops."

Face coverings have been compulsory in shops in Scotland since 10 July.

Mr Johnson also said "people should be going back to work if they can now."
