Robert Glatzel on fire

Wednesday 8th July 2020

By Glen Williamd

It's always good to end on a positive note and there are few more positive narratives at Cardiff at the moment than the form of Robert Glatzel.

Perhaps the most pleasing thing about the striker's display against Rovers is that it wasn't just that his finishing which was on point for the second goal, but his all-round play was much improved.

Harris wants him to get involved in the arm-wrestle, he wants his No.9 to stand up to the physical challenge like Callum Paterson does, and he has shown vast improvement in that area in recent weeks.

His goal was a typical striker's goal. He found space between the posts to latch on to Bennett's excellent cross, but at the start of the season, perhaps a little less confident than he is now, he might not have been in that position.

His link-up play is also coming along nicely, whether that be one-twos with Joe Ralls or holding it up and shipping it out wide to the wingers, and all the components just seem to be marrying up for Glatzel now.

He has three goals in four outings since football restarted and he really could be the man to fire City to Wembley if they can keep him fit in the run-in.

A man in this rare form at this time of the season is almost an invaluable asset and Harris will hope his striker can harness that against Fulham this Friday night.

The Bluebirds had their first blip, it was always going to happen, but they know what went wrong. Rovers were very good, showed intent and City had a few defensive lapses.

But there is a big test at Craven Cottage this Friday and Harris can be confident his No.1 marksman has never been in better form in a City shirt.
