It seemed to have been forgotten due to the late goal but what a save by Smithies to keep us in the game at 0-0.

ought to be in the championship team of the week for that save alone.Been a while since I've seen something that good.

He’s a better keeper than Etheridge, IMO. Kept us in the game yesterday, and the same against Preston and Leeds.

Brilliant save and he's been quality since he's come into the side.

Scary moment when he had a kick charged down by the Bristol City forward - reminded me of when he was playing for QPR at the CCS and Junior charged down a kick from Smithies and it went straight into the net.

Smithies clearly No 1 now - wonder what will happen with Etheridge at the end of the season?

This time last year he was being tipped to return to the Premier League and Villa and West Ham were supposedly interested - now he's warming the bench. I think he'll move on for the sake of his career and good luck to him if he does.

Etheridge is a average championship keeper at best. People only remember the camera saves and forget all the points he cost us with with the poor side of his game.

An experienced goalkeeper who provides a calming influence for the defence. With no fans at the game, you can hear him shouting, so the defence know exactly what he wants from them and it’s made me appreciate just how good he is.

I can remember posting around the time he was dropped,admittedely after a poor game,that I thought he was made a scapegoat
Imo,and said he didn't deserve to be dropped on one bad day at the office,I said then and I'll say it now,he is a better all-round keeper than etheridge, not in any way saying etheridge is poor,he isn't, but it's great at the moment,that we have 2 good keepers,should one get injured.and Smithies has been on top form,especially since the re start.
