Lee Johnson has been sacked as head coach of Bristol City.

The 39-year-old, who had been in the role since February 2016 and was the longest-serving manager in the Championship, departs following a run of four successive defeats.

The Robins are 12th after Saturday's loss to sixth-placed Cardiff City, who are now nine points above them.

Chief executive Mark Ashton said, while there had been some "special moments" under Johnson, "change" was needed.

For a club that had aspirations of getting promotion they never even looked like getting in to the play offs let alone doing the actual thing and going up. Has to be the most over rated manager in the championship. I have no idea what his philosophy or style is other than its boring to watch. The English media love him because he's a young, English manager who yells "Our philosophy" every 5 mins which is funny because he doesn't have one, but in reality he's a bang average championship manager.

all things considered yes its a bit harsh... coming out of this break was always going to be good for some and not for others, its not exactly a seamless continuation of the season.. but on top of that he has had to sell players every year..30 odd mill last summer.. and then lose brownhill in January.. I don't think you can expect to be a selling club in a division where there are bigger fish and still be challenging...they will do well to find someone that keeps that conveyer belt rolling and also keep them involved top half...

And judging by the way his dad hacked Chopra down after Chops scored at Ashiton Gate a few seasons ago his old man was a better footballer than little Lee as well!

Remember him taking the piss out of Warnock at CCS earlier this season by mimicking NW's celebration in front of their "fans" when they beat us.

His dad had alot more class. However in all fairness he's had little money with us cherry picking some of their favourites. What do they expect? Mid table seems reasonable

Not sure about the nett ins and outs at bcfc but I think you'll find that he didn't have much to play with compared to alot in the championship
