The Wurzels truly despise us and possibly even more than the Jerks, so a win at Crapton Gate effectively contributing to their season end is even more sweeter.

Missed going there today as its always a good day out but a vital away win for us today & a clean sheet. Plus Little Lee being thrown into the sea.

I posted this minutes before the Lee Johnson sacking news hit, now the Gummidge's ironically have their happy heads on as they were mightily miffed that we beat them and now seem generally delighted that Little Lee is no more. Nice to think though that we added to their misery, for a while anyway.

I always follow the forums to see what fans are saying about us and Bristol's has always been the worst, even more than the Jerks. They were also the worst in the Euro's. They're in meltdown. Feck 'Em.

They are a tad unpleasant

I went to University at Gloucestershire and spent a lot of time around Bristol and the general feeling around that area is that Bristol City is a big club and they should be in the Premier League. In my lifetime I have never considered them to be big and they are a very unpleasant club, their fans, stadium, etc included. Couldn’t pick a better side to have a good record against

Lee Johnson: Bristol City head coach sacked by Championship club

Lee Johnson has been sacked as head coach of Bristol City.

The 39-year-old, who had been in the role since February 2016 and was the longest-serving manager in the Championship, departs following a run of four successive defeats.

The Robins are 12th after Saturday's loss to sixth-placed Cardiff City, who are now nine points above them.

Chief executive Mark Ashton said, while there had been some "special moments" under Johnson, "change" was needed.

"We recognise the huge amount of work that Lee has put in over the last four and a half years to move this club forward and we thank him for all his efforts," added Ashton.

"However, success in football is ultimately judged by results and league position and the board believes that a change of management is needed now for Bristol City."

Prior to this campaign, City had improved their league position in each season under Johnson, finishing eighth in 2018-19 having gone into the final day with an outside chance of reaching the play-offs.

They looked well set to challenge again this term and were three points off the top two after beating Derby County on 12 February, but a nine-game winless run - including seven defeats - either side of the coronavirus hiatus means they are now set for a mid-table finish.


Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol following the defeat by local rivals Cardiff - but before his sacking was announced - Johnson said he had "no excuses" for the recent run of losses.

"We've got a good squad here, some good players, but for whatever reason after the Covid-19 break we just haven't blended or gelled as we actually thought we would," he said.

"Obviously we have not been good enough over the course of the season, it's not just today and all we can do is set the tone moving forward.

"It's disappointing but no one is more disappointed than me."

No lover of Bristol city myself even though I know a couple of there supporters but the one thing that stands out for me is there arrogance and the fact that they think they rule the city of Bristol in football terms a few seasons ago they wanted lee Johnson out but Johnson got lucky with a few results in the league they thought they where going up and then went on a cup run in the league cup and lost to Manchester City to be honest it papered over cracks then they sell three of there best players to us they got what they deserved

I actually think Lee Johnson has not done a bad job seeing that they are continually selling their best players. Very difficult for any manger to produce a promotion side ifyou sell your best players and replace them with cheaper alternatives.

I really don't like Johnson but yes your spot on... 6th in the table at end of January and have to sell your best player...AGAIN... not sure exactly what as a club they expect.. should Bristol really be competing at the top end with the clubs having parachute payments plus Forest, Derby, Leeds, etc... I don't think so.. and defo not if your selling the best 1/3 rd of you team every year...
