MY VIEW/OPINION

" CARDIFF CITY DOMINATED MOST OF THE GAME AND GOT A MASSIVE LATE WINNER "

It was a poor game but I think we deserved the win :ayatollah:

BACUNA MOTM for me :thumbright:

Neil Harris reverted to a similar team to the one that played at Preston and against Leeds. Josh Murphy and Lee Tomlin had to settle for a place on the bench.

Smithies, Sanderson, Morrison, Nelson, Bennett, Vaulks, Bacuna, Ralls, Hoilett, Mendez-Laing, Paterson

Bristol City started quickly, with a few crosses in the first 5 minutes that our defence dealed with comfortably

Cardiff City soon after had a couple of corners, but without causing Bristol City too many problems

Cardiff City were the better team in the first 20 minutes

Alex Smithies made the first save of the match in the 21st minute, when a close range header from a set piece was straight at him

Korey Smith booked for Bristol City in the 23rd minute

Dion Sanderson shot high and wide in the 33rd minute

Leandro Bacuna shot well wide in the 36th minute

After a few blocked shots, Junior Hoilett had his shot defected wide in the 37th minute

HALF TIME: BRISTOL CITY 0-0 CARDIFF CITY

Will Vaulks had a shot tipped over the bar in the 53rd minute

Korey Smith was lucky not to get a second yellow card after a late challenge on the hour mark

Cardiff City were comfortably the better team in the first hour, but without troubling the goalkeeper too much

Curtis Nelson made a goal-saving block in the 64th minute

Lee Tomlin replaced Nathaniel Mendez-Laing in the 66th minute

Alex Smithies made a fantastic save in the 67th minute to keep it level

Danny Ward replaced Callum Paterson in the 79th minute

Bristol City should have scored in the 81st minute but a header went inches wide

GOAL: BRISTOL CITY 0-1 CARDIFF CITY - Lee Tomlin played a great ball forward and Danny Ward slotted it home :ayatollah:

Sol Bamba replaced Junior Hoilett in the 89th minute

Danny Ward tried to go round the keeper in the 91st minute but the goalkeeper stopped him

Afobe put the ball wide for Bristol City in the 93rd minute

Bristol City has an overhead kick go just wide in the 95th minute

FULL TIME: BRISTOL CITY 0-1 CARDIFF CITY

My MOTM Leandro Bacuna :ayatollah:

Next up is Blackburn at home on Tuesday night :thumbright:

I thought both teams were as bad as each other and Bristol looked more like scoring than we did, before & after the goal.

Cardiff City deserved the win, as they were overall the more enterprising side, although Bristol did have their chances. To be negative at this point is somewhat disappointing, given the massive impact this result might have for ourselves and on those around us

Massive pressure on Wales No.2 team tomorrow and anything but a win will effectively see them join (now) Bristol drop out of the picture

Nothing but positivity from me. We beat The Wurzels in their own back yard :D

Dodged a bullet there. We are a striker away from a decent team. With less aimless long balls we don't need Patersons attributes.

With the back 4 and midfield 3, we are solid and just hope the top 3 do something. Not a bad tactic, but relying on Paterson won't do that.

They had better chances and Smithies produced a worldly.

Was very frustrating at times ..... but then when hasn’t it been watching the City!?

Spot on Chris, it was a good deserved away win (never easy) plus a clean sheet and puts us firmly in the driving seat & 3 points clear of Derby. Let's hope the Jacks get beaten tomorrow!

Paul, it's not been easy watching for some time but Neil Harris has pulled this squad (not just team) together and they're doing it for him and each other

The spirit is immense and they put their bodies on the line so many times. The save from Smithies (surely offside?) was immense and showed their resolve

Another clean sheet and it's difficult to lose games when you don't concede ;) :ayatollah:

I completely agree with the sentiments how Harris has pulled the squad together. But more than that its not the Neil harris show. He just gets the lads playing for each other and for him with no sideshow.

Horrible game to watch but a win is a win! Sanderson makes me nervous at the back, I put Patterson there as he’s played most of his career there and for Scotland and he’s no centre forward.Glazel and Ward can both finish and have to be our 1st and 2nd choice? Not sure why Murphy didn’t come to cause problems, Mendez and Junior we’re both shattered! It’s our to lose now as we can even afford to have one loss!

Didn’t understand Harris bringing on Tomlin and putting him out wide?

Paterson again showed he’s non league standard.

Thankfully Ward was on when Tomlin had that ball.

Superb save from Smithies (again).

Good to see us try to pass it but only Ralls and Tomlin can play a ball in but with no Glatzel or until late on today what’s the point if that clown Paterson is playing CF.

Spot on. Great result and a lot of positive performances but putting Tomlin on the wing was bizarre and im praying to god that Neil Warnock stays on with Middlesbrough next season so he can take Paterson for a few million.

Millwall is a slight worry as they have a fairly easy run in. If we slip up they could nick it from us.

A win is a win not matter how well or bad we play and to score so late in the game was a big plus yesterday teams are finding it hard to break us down I know it’s not pretty at times but you play to you’re strengths

Should said after Tues eve what could save us against a millwall surge is our last two games whilst no games easy they are as easy as millwall's ? same will go for other teams chasing us whilst not overly confident it's those last two games gives me hope..

We look physically strong and don’t get bullied on the pitch. Add to that out our mental strength to see out games, defensive organisation and improved tactics, the last 4 games (other than Charlton, where I think Tomlin should have started) have been extremely enjoyable to watch.

Personally, I think we will deservedly finish higher than 6th and will romp to the Premier League via the Play-offs. :bluescarf: :bluebird:
