Swansea City paid more agents fees than any other Championship club apart from Stoke City over the last year, it has been revealed.
An FA document reveals the Swans forked out a total of £5,199,242 to agents from February 1, 2019 to January 31, 2020.
Fulham paid £4.42m over the same time frame, while Leeds United (£4.03m) and Cardiff City (£3.46m) completed the top five for the second-tier sides to dish out the highest amount of money to agents.
Swansea have a total of 25 deals listed on the document, which was released by the English FA on Wednesday night.
It's understood a significant portion of Swansea's sum relates to legacy payments from contracts given out during the Premier League era, thus making their spend on fees for agents on deals done over the last year significantly lower.
A Swansea City spokesperson said: “The figure released is a true record of the fees paid to intermediaries between the said period.
“However, it is very important to note that the figure includes substantial residual and outstanding payments to agents on players purchased during the club’s time in the Premier League.
“Since relegation to the Championship, the club’s new costs in relation to intermediaries has fallen dramatically and is expected to fall in line with future average Championship figures.
“It is vital the club controls and minimises all costs going forward to ensure its long-term sustainability, especially during football’s current financial predicament.’’
As for Cardiff, they have 18 transactions listed on the sheet.
Two are the loans for Brad Smith and Albert Adomah, while the signings of Robert Glatzel, Will Vaulks, Gavin Whyte, Curtis Nelson, Joe Day and Marlon Pack also feature.
It also includes the new contracts given to players including Sol Bamba, Ryan Pryce, Lee Tomlin and Ciaron Brown.
As for the Premier League, champions-elect Liverpool spent the highest on fees for agents, with Jurgen Klopp's side parting ways with a staggering £30.3m.
The Reds are closely followed by Man City (£29m), Manchester United (£27.6m) and Chelsea (£26.2m).
