Either way no loss

Best news of the day. Injury prone and did nothing for the club. A wasted talent.

I was surprised that he played 57 games for us in 4 years missing 68 though injury! Played more than many of our signings, class player but very injury prone. Saw him play a superb game for Wales against Belgium a few years ago, wonder if he’s got another club lined up?

Harsh luck with injuries - Not a bad egg by any means. Good luck to Jazz in the future and hope he can still contribute to the Wales squad. I think there's a lot of confidence from the club that 1) Sanderson or an other will sign & 2) we have some good full backs at reserve and academy level coming through.

Sense prevailed and the CCFC Committee did not offer him a new contract.

City wasted £millions and it had to stop.

Very bad luck with injuries. Not his fault. Wish him all the best for the future. :bluescarf:

Cardiff City defender Jazz Richards has announced he has left the club following his latest injury setback.

It emerged last weekend that right-back Richards would miss this Sunday's Bluebirds Championship return when they come up against Leeds United due to a calf injury.

The Wales international has been hit with a number of injuries during his stay in the Welsh capital and his nightmare run of luck struck again when he injured his calf while on a road run while training in isolation during lockdown.

With just weeks to go before his contract expired, it's now emerged that his time as a Bluebird has come to an end.

In a touching Instagram post on Saturday evening, 29-year-old Richards said: "End of an era.

"It’s time to say goodbye to Cardiff City FC. It’s been one hell of a journey with a lot of highs and a lot of lows but most of all a great experience.

"I have met a lot of great people along the way and people I can call friends for life. It’s been a roller coaster of a ride for me but one thing I can never doubt and will always be grateful for is the continuous belief and support from CCFC fans.

"I will always appreciate you. The chapter ends but the story continues. Thank you".

Richards, who was part of Wales' history-making Euro 2016 squad, has missed 68 matches through injury in all competitions during his four years at Cardiff City Stadium.

"But I don’t believe we [football] will learn the lesson from the current crisis and predicament that we are in. That’s the really sad part." You can read more from that interview here.

Bluebirds manager Neil Harris previously said Richards and Danny Ward, who also sees his current contract expire at the end of June, had agreed to play on until the end of the current season, with Cardiff having nine fixtures remaining, "unless anything changes before June 21".

Speaking last weekend after the Bluebirds' two friendly matches against Swansea City, Harris said: "Jazz Richards won't be available for Leeds.

"Jazz was not 100 per cent fit when he came back into training. He will be struggling to be ready for Leeds, I cannot say he is definitely going to be ruled out completely but he is unlikely to feature."

Richards, who has 14 international caps to his name, has a paltry 57 games in a Cardiff City shirt under his belt having been at the club for four years.

Bad luck? There was more to it than that surely. When he did finally get fit last Summer and was due to play in the friendlies he then became ill, followed up by another injury. No one has that much bad luck.

At last. Utter financial liability to club. Its players like this where football has gone wrong. Hes cost an absolute fortune for doing nothing which is shameful. Football has to change. Sadly Danny Ward will also be going. At least he has made a contribution to the club. Survival as a club is vital now though so if we have to sell to stay afloat so be it. There will be clubs folding in the next few months.

Jazz Richards came to the club in a swap deal with Fulham who took Scott Malone from us.

We got just 57 games and no goals during an injury hit 4 year period whilst Fulham got 36 games 6 goals in one season plus an undisclosed transfer fee when Scott Malone was sold to Huddersfield.

Wonder who got the best end of that deal?

Tony, in hindsight, I don’t think anyone could argue that it was a bad deal due to his injury problems. At the time I was happy with this transfer as I never liked Malone.

How anyone can blame Jazz is beyond me though.
Some players are just hampered with injuries though and that is just bad luck.

Probably for the best - in these circumstances it's not economically viable to pay someone to almost have his own seat in the treatment room next to Vassell. It's not their fault these 2 are both injury prone, to put it mildly.
Maybe a new career in physio or chair polishing ?

Just for once with hindsight I would love to say we got the best end of a deal.

However, TBH I didn't like Malone either I remember seeing him duck a tackle right in front of where I was sat in the Ninian Stand. Cardiff players NEVER duck a tackle.

I remember there was fuss about the proposed deal because of JR's connection with the Jacks where he came through their youth system. Personally I thought he was a great player but his injury record has been awful.

JR never endeared himself with the Cardiff City faithful, and I Wondered if he ever wanted to play for us in the first place.

Unlucky with injuries? I don’t know,,,, but I can’t help thinking that it was more about His attitude, than anything else.

I always said I'd go with the manager's opinion (Harris, for me, has now earned respect) and it seems enough is enough

Sometimes, it's just how it goes and he's been hugely unlucky. I'm sure he'll be gutted to leave (even as a Jack)

Unlike some, I don't wish Jazz anything but best wishes as he moves on :thumbright:

I didn't like SM either , was also pleased because I really rated Jazz and thought Trolls would get him flying for both us and Wales { he is good enough } .. but some players live to play and the money is a huge bonus, others { fortunately not that many } can take it or leave it. just like the dough.
