Latest Championship promotion and champions odds for Cardiff City and Swansea City ahead of season restart

The Pools have released their odds as to which sides it believes stand the best chance of playing Premier League football in 2020/21

Swansea City manager Steve Cooper and Cardiff City boss Neil Harris are both gunning for promotion.

The Championship will resume soon with 108 fixtures of the regular season still to be played – and fresh odds have been released suggesting the sides which stand the best chances of promotion.

English football’s second tier resumes on June 20, with each club having nine games left to tackle this campaign.

The season is due for a midweek end to the campaign on Tuesday, July 21, and Wednesday, July 22.

The Championship play-off final is also planned to take place on Sunday, August 2.

When the season halted in March, Leeds United sat top of the division closely pursued by West Bromwich Albion.

Behind the top two, there is an intriguing battle emerging for the play-offs with Fulham third, four points ahead of London rivals Brentford and Nottingham Forest.

Preston North End currently occupy the final play-offs spot and are just a point of Bristol City.

A total of just nine points split the Lilywhites in sixth down to Birmingham City in 16th.

Teams in between include Millwall, Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers, Swansea City, Derby County, QPR, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.

With the ultimate prize of Premier League football on offer, here’s what the latest promotion odds are from The Pools, both in terms of the Championship’s outright eventual winner and for going up generally.

A bit surprised we are longer odds than Swansea we should be the same in my view but it's a bit academic as neither of us are likely to make the playoffs. It's not impossible of course but I think people are underestimating the difficulty of our remaining fixtures. Even to make the playoffs we will have to win more games in a nine game spell than we have done all season with a more difficult set of fixtures than in any nine game spell this season. The only way that will happen is if we are somehow magically transformed by playing behind closed door.

Obviously There is a risk of being accused of being negative but it just a sensible assesment of what will happen given our performances this season.
