Says we will continue to take the cautious view and look at what others do. In other words if it’s a success we will follow if it is not - I told you so. This is NOT Leadership.
Says he hasn’t spoken to Boris for 3 weeks? Why? Can’t he phone him? Hasn’t he got a phone?
When asked why no greater relaxation as the R is the best in the country and only 3 deaths yesterday ? Answer this shows the cautious way is working. Really Einstein. Yes I get that but when do we open up when there are no deaths because that’s not going to happen. In the meantime economic collapse, although today he said we are not behind England in the economy. doh!
Still no sign at all about the 5 mile rule that is not governed by the science as it doesn’t exist.
Finally - some car parks by coastlines and beauty sports are now being opened up - for the local people. Doh. I thought public places like this were for civilisation in a democratic society. Therefore I assume if shops aren’t opened up in the Cardiff city centre next week and the 5 mile rule is still enforced only the citizens of Cardiff can shop there. Madness.
What a ‘leader’.

Think the statement hes put out just shows how inept he is? we have all said he cannot make a decision (except 1 or 2) and this goes to show he can't because he's waiting to see what others do before making is own decision which was according to him done with the scientific evidence but thats obviously is crap as evidence shows could have opened up parts of economy before now, you just have to wonder will he open enough things to save tourism and hospitality sectors or is he waiting for zero deaths before doing it....

Welsh Government considering reopening non-essential shops
While shoppers across England reacquaint themselves with the high street, you'd be forgiven for forgetting that the four nations of the UK are easing their lockdowns at a different pace.
As such, reopening non-essential retail and a further relaxing of restrictions on outdoor activity are being considered by the Welsh Government ahead of its next review this Friday.
First Minister Mark Drakeford said the retail sector in Wales "will be well prepared if we can give the go ahead to re-open on Friday".
However, he added a "stop-start approach, where we do too much too soon" would be worse for the economy.
Mr Drakeford said the sector had put in place "new arrangements" such as safe ways for shoppers to enter and leave stores, social distancing in shops and protection for retail employees.
He said he was keen for the economy to re-open in Wales, but public health must come first "as that was best for our economy".

There is leading and appearing to lead.
Boris sensed the country had had enough and had to relax the rules because unless you are prepared to go after your own citizen and forcibly enforce the rules with the military you need to feel it. It was clear we had peaked and on a long trajectory downwards. Those who felt it won’t affect them out first with those worried still at home. Don’t forget there were many people who worked throughout this.
The general population are not daft, the last week of March until the end of April were grim and bunkered down. But, the NHS is very expensive and needs to be paid for, so we need a functioning economy.
Boris appeared to lead, but just gave credence to trailblazers who were out. The government never expected the obedience to the lockdown. The sheer quantity of factories that closed for enforced holiday or furlough were massive and we are reaping the benefit now.
Drakeford is neither leading or appearing to lead. His insistence of doing “his” thing based upon the same scientific advice demonstrates his lack of political nounce. The Welsh population is simply just ignoring the Welsh government and that can’t be a good thing for the authority or longevity of it.
I know people who have a social bubble and how many are planning to go for a ride and pop over the bridge for a day’s shopping. 5 miles !!! do me a favour.
Whether it be a demonstration, a counter demonstration, a drive to Newcastle, a visit to a partners house, taking your family to your second home, extending your exercise beyond the stated time or beyond the perimeter, meeting up with a non-household friend people will make up their own mind whether it the right thing to do for them. It may be something you’d never do, but that’s you. The demonstrations would never have happened in April.
Drakeford and his advisors have no political nounce.
He has backed himself into a corner. He only has an alternative and that’s turn his weakness into a supposed strength and proclaim that because of his great insight and strength to travel against the tide the Wales R value is the low enough to open shops Monday and pubs the week later. That would make a headline but would take balls and he hasn’t that. So its 3 weeks behind England unless wee Jimmy tells him to do something else.

What I don't get is this 3 week thing. Why are the other 3 administrations able to make some changes during this 3 week period and we don't seem to be able to? As far as I was aware the 3 week period was a LIMIT on when they would LEGALLY have to review the restrictions and NOT ONLY to update them every 3 weeks.

Nero fiddles whilst Rome burns has never been more apt. Summer will be gone before he makes up his mind by which time thousands pubs, hotels etc will be bankrupt. I can normally laugh at policians of all parties but this man makes my blood boil. He shows absolutely no empathy for private enterprise.

Other day all the bodies to do with tourism and hospitality pleaded for lockdown to be eased! His response was I will ease lockdown when I'm ready to and wont be pressured by anyone? Do your right no empathy or concern for peoples jobs.

He said got shopping list of things to look at trouble is he as 4 padlocks on his wallet and wont be opening up anytime soon.

Whatever happened to the Labour Party? Gone are the rousing speeches of yesteryear, skilfully crafted to rouse a movement into action. Gone are the politicians who could unite and stir. Deserted by the working class fed up of a broken ideal.
All that’s left is a whimpering husk, devoid of sense, excitement, and idea.

Drakeford is as 3rd rate bureaucrat and an inept politician
The 5 mile rule and insistence on only altering things every 3 weeks is frankly ridiculous and his dithering is going to cost the Welsh economy £millions
He has “opted out” of making any difficult decisions because he is not brave enough make them
A politician completely out of his depth and the economy and us the Welsh people will be paying for his ineffectiveness for years to come
