I'm far from the most popular person who posts herein the past I've clashed with many a poster, and I'm sure annis would attest that that been banned more than most (except Roathy of course
). I've always been able to justify what I post by always feeling like I was in defense of the football club, against a backdrop of criticism over the years I've felt was unjust, but today, even more so than rebrand, I think it might be the first time in my life I can say I'm disappointed in my club
Let's start with the basics, the coronavirus is not the clubs fault and the pro rata money for the remaining 5 home games (for me I believe its 75 pound) is not an issue. The option to have the money credited against a future season ticket, match tickets or any spending that's in anyway to do with the club is standard, its what I guess we all expected, and though we don't know when we will be able to get back into the stadium, when the time is right I'll be there as I'm sure all of us will. But, and especially given the two options present to us, this should be the default.
This clubs academy, and this is a football club that generates millions upon millions in revenue of course, should be fully funded, fully costed and fully budgeted for by the people entrusted to run the business. But wait, the club are set to lose a big chunk of revenue they would never have envisioned losing. Absolutely true, and it should be belt-tightening time for us, and almost every other club for a while now. But the club has been poorly managed financially for a generation and it feels like they are using the academy as a guilt trip method into making fans ok with letting the club keep it, because the money goes to the kids, and no one would begrudge that right?
It's also criminally short of detail. Assuming 75 pound is the average amount. And let's say there's 10k tickets (as we can discount the kids here) now let's say half of those choose option one, either by making the decision themselves or not contacting the Club. That's 375,000. So will the academy get an additional 375,000? What will the club spend the money for a academy of a professional football club with execellent training facilities and gym equipment, and coaching already available?
Or is this money going to make up a shortfall from potential accounting losses the club will make? If so then really, this isn't money for the academy at all, it's just a manovure for the club to maintain its revenue. If the club are unable to fund a fully functioning academy without relying on the generosity of fans, why don't they:
1. Stop wasting obscene sums of money on players we don't need, injured players, and big new contracts for players who perform for 3 months out of a 3 year deal
2.downgrade the academy, have less kids involved and hire fewer coaches.
Why instead, is option one not to donate the money to the Cardiff City foundation, where it can be invested in the community, schools, education or equipment, or even donated to several affiliated charities on behalf of Cardiff City fans. Or both?
I get my view will almost certainly not be shared with the majority here but that's never stopped me airing it anyway
I, like the rest of you, have put not just my money into this club but part of my life, and whether it's justified or not, I feel like the club are hiding behind the children in the academy to coax us into letting them keep the money. It's got me so angry I'm even considering going full Karen and writing to the clubthough I know nothing productive will come of it. I hope no one reading this, or reading the statement from the club today would feel guilty in choosing option 2.
For me, it will be option 2, and I hope plenty of fans will do the same.

I cut the rest in my response because it was pretty much self-indulgence from your goodself when you started a new thread on a subject already running
Re the above, you overestimate your place on here and the value of much you write as being (quote) "able to justify what I post"
And to answer the content of the actual main body of the post itself, I will simply say that the club have effectively given three options for current season ticket holders to peruse and evaluate according to their own views/situation
Their decision but to gauge feeling, I have now added a poll to your OP

What you've written says a lot more about you than about me. God forbid we have posts on here that talk about the club rather than politics
I'm glad that even people who don't agree can at least see my reasoning though.

Fans in all football clubs should stop bending the knee to these greedy bast....
You are seat number and nothing more. I know I keep banging this drum but how many times do footbal fans want to keep get their udders out and keep get milked. At the very least all clubs fans should Put a fight up for ffs to get the best deals possible and get these players to cut their wages and help out the working class fan. Some families are on their knees I bet. The last thing on their mind is 250 to 1000 pound seaon tickets renewals at what ever league/tier of football your club is.
And then to rub it in they bring up donations. All this donation bollocks for academy and with A backdrop with players on upto 10,000 - 20,000(efl) a week as well, lol.
Have a word with yourselves ffs. If you are flush why not donate to Captain Thomas or NHS and not these greedy bas.. that piss away momey on agents, wages , signing on fees...... etc. Driving around in 100,000 cars and they ask for donations and people say yep,yep yep......
I've never been more disappointed in football fans who just continually bend the knee out of blind loyalty . You are just a seat number and dont forget it.
But hey, it's all about opinions I guess.

True but if you paid to watch a movie that was cancelled you'd get your money back. The cinema wouldn't ask you to keep the money so they can invest in a new popcorn dispenser
