The UK government say that “air bridges” will be introduced for summer holidays from June 29th and quarantine will be ‘scrapped’.
In a promise to travel bosses in a bid to get them to drop their legal action over quarantine rules for travelers, the government have said that air bridges will now co-exist between nations.
Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Australia are thought to be frontrunners for “travel corridors” which would allow holidaymakers and business people to go to and from the countries without having to self-isolate for 14 days.
These bridges will replace the 14-day blanket quarantine where travelers into the UK will have to self-isolate and be subject to police orders.
Travel bosses have slammed the quarantine order which came into effect yesterday, saying it is too hard to police and will ‘destroy’ tourism as people won’t bother to travel under those conditions.
Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary vented his anger yesterday calling the quaratine rules ‘rubbish’ and has ‘no scientific value’.

Once again Boris the dithering Baffon does a u-turn
Wed Jun 10, 2020 2:00 pm
With all due respect you blame Boris but he's just a spokesman
He goes on what his advisors tell him, the science or whatever crap they come up with.
As you guys on here seem to know it all and it's so easy being the final spokesman ie prime minister why don't you look into becoming a politician??
As you all seem to have the answers
The days were a prime minister could put in place what he or she wanted is gone.
It's on a vote, Boris doesn't just sit on his own and think right il do this or that.
Wed Jun 10, 2020 2:04 pm
Not a Boris fan but he does seem to someone who will change his mind when feels what he and his government has introduced is not right
Some may say he should have go it right in the first place but he seems to be strong enough to change his mind publicly Sp many politicians in the past have stuck to their guns even when they privately know they are wrong

I'm really struggling to see what Boris Johnson is so proud of on the pandemic.
FACTS:
PPE - Failure
Testing - Failure
Protecting care homes - Failure
Lockdown - Late
Herd immunity - U turn
Facemasks - U turn
Quarantine - U turn
Wed Jun 10, 2020 2:24 pm
I don't disagree with you,
Point I'm making is he's just a spokes person, it's just idiots advising him then back tracking
I like Boris, but not as prime minister, not in politics, maybe a talk show host as I agree he's a dithering buffoon.
Boris is not hard enough to argue a point he just looks to go on what his advisors advise or the media demand
This virus has shown we have an inept government, no decent opposition and no hope at present.
And when the leader of the opposition bends a knee for a photo OP, what hope do we have
Tell me who can change this government mess we are in??
Each and every party is clueless
And these so called science experts have blood on there hands, to many lives lost due to not good enough advisors advising.

Conservative MP Caroline Noakes today says UK should of listened to other countries and locked down earlier .
Also quarantine coming from countries abroad to the UK way to late.
Funny the posters who said at the time I did not know what I was saying or was just sticking up for Spain and Italy have vanished

Agree with most of your points As mentioned I don’t mind U turns if done for the right reasons But yes maybe should have had it right in first place
Reading a report today the care home deaths are shocking I was also shocked to see our death rates in care homes was lower than Italy , France , Spain , Spain being the worst of the bunch in care homes in Europe All those countries should hand their heads in shame over the neglect

Well I haven't disappeared Annis, to be fair the man can only follow scientific guidance.
Lots of things could have been different but as they say... Hindsight a wonderful thing.
Wed Jun 10, 2020 4:33 pm
There's one reason alone that he is doing this - the economy. He's probably been badgered by businesses, the CBI, the banks and the Tory sponsors. That's why I think he's given in.
I don't think it would be any different whichever party was in charge. A political party is nothing without their sponsors. If they threaten to pull the plug you can kiss goodbye to your future.

Yes but according to the scientific advice, which was to lock down earlier,it wasn't followed, but was ignored??

to the UK Govt
One of Boris Senior Advisors today told ITV
If Boris had lockdown a week earlier and listened at least 25,000 deaths would of been saved.
He was forced to resign as Boris would not listen.

Agreed
Ryanair worse air line company I have ever known, but at the time I had no other choice to book with them. Can’t stand them.

I like Boris, but he is inexperienced,if Mrs May wasn’t so bad then Boris might never have become PM,he said all the right things at the right time and it seems that all the stars were aligned for him.
For all his faults it has to be better than the alternative we were offered, lets not forget they were inexperienced too, since the election look at what has taken place in this country,Brexit, horrendous floods and a World pandemic.

When did NZ lockdown? It was after the UK wasn’t it? 25th March? No one even thought about here until early March, it Just became very serious very fast. We should have closed our borders beginning of March that’s for sure. Particularly in light of today’s evidence showing the virus was brought back to the uk by Brits who had been to Spain, Italy and France mainly. If this hadn’t been allowed to occur, it probably would never have git here so badly.
Wed Jun 10, 2020 9:54 pm
Yep, New Zealand swiftly acted and shut the country down.
Our science advisors and experts need to be replaced asap as there indecision has cost many lives and left many families totally heartbroken.
A loved one dying is bad enough, but not being able to see them beforehand must be complete torture.
My thoughts go out to them.

I don't know where you get 1.5m visitors figure from? It's nowhere near that.
I have tried to find a true figure, all I can find is it's 'in excess of 100k.'

There have been mistakes along the way, no doubt but they are all fighting the unknown.
Bluesince62, Ferguson's sour grapes will be proven very soon as he is coming out with all this *expert opinion* days after he was released from his duties.
Ferguson says " we should have locked down earlier" BUT it was him who advised when to lock down and NO he wasn't ignored the man is just ripe for the anti government media to stick a fluffy microphone in front of, anyways we shouldn't be worrying about England and Boris we have bigger clowns here in Dripford and his bunch.
STAY SAFE AND HAPPY ALL.

Even many on here posted they should be cancelled.
