Nine individuals from six clubs have tested positive in the latest batch of coronavirus testing in the Championship.

The EFL confirmed a total of 1,094 players and club staff were tested between May 30 and June 2.

An EFL statement read: "Following the latest round of Covid-19 testing, the EFL can confirm that 1094 players and club staff from the 24 Championship clubs were tested over the course of Saturday 30 May, Sunday 31 May, Monday 1 June and Tuesday 2 June with nine individuals testing positive from six clubs.

"Those players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities."

This is exactly the example i was going on about with this Test and Trace - Footballers can carry on but not the RCP .

Contact tracers force hospital to close
A hospital department was forced to suspend services after a doctor and nine immediate colleagues were told to isolate following a call from newly-recruited Covid-19 contact tracers.

The case has prompted calls from the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) for clinicians to be allowed to take a "pragmatic" approach to the new NHS test and trace system.

Donal O'Donoghue, registrar of the RCP and a consultant renal physician at Salford Royal Hospital, said a doctor had messaged him to say a department had been forced shut because 10 clinicians had been contacted.

He said strict adherence to the test and trace regime relaunched nationally last week was a real risk for the NHS: "If we just apply the rules, within that healthcare environment, then you take so many people out, it becomes really difficult to provide the service."

Mr O'Donoghue suggested more needed to be done to protect healthcare workers as social distancing and the use of PPE is often impossible away from the Covid wards.

His last paragraph resonates with me! Had my first physio appointment on Friday, since lockdown interupted everything (non contact ;) ) and if I'm truthful,I couldn't wait to get away from the hospital, both staff & visitors/patients,totally ignoring the social distance rules, walking in groups of 4/6 at times, and he is talking the truth, where he hits on what effect it could have on services!! It won't be lack of ppe being the main problem,it could well be a shortage of staff, that turns up,maybe just as 2nd wave hits? Would become the perfect storm :sad7: :old: :bluebird:
