Tony,
I don’t like saying this but the big mouths arguing that there was no real problem and UK did not need a lockdown and there was no parties going on etc etc. Have suddenly all vanished of the forum after all the stick they gave me , when all I was saying was I was worried for the UK and feared this would happen.

I wanted to be proved wrong and would of said I got it wrong .

The chief of British Transport Police in Scotland is facing criticism after making two trips from Glasgow to Yorkshire to visit his family home during lockdown.
British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed to The Daily Record that Eddie Wylie made the 480-mile round trips between his Glasgow flat and his other home in Holmfirth, but lockdown rules on travel and second homes.
A spokesperson for BTP told the newspaper: “
In a statement, BTP said: “British Transport Police is a national police force with its headquarters in London, and as such our officers are required to regularly travel across England, Scotland and Wales for essential meetings or as operationally required. In these instances, Chief Superintendent Wylie will stay at whichever address is the most convenient.

Hospital closes after asymptomatic worker tests positive
A hospital has closed to new admissions to "avoid being the cause of an outbreak" after tests revealed a number of staff with no symptoms had coronavirus.
Weston General Hospital in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, has not been accepting new patients since 8am on Monday to maintain patient and staff safety.
All inpatients have been tested for the virus, and the hospital is in the process of testing all staff.
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust confirmed that 40 per cent of a "limited group of staff who worked with Covid-19 positive patients" had themselves tested positive for the virus.
John Penrose, MP for Weston-super-Mare, tweeted that the hospital had seen a "spike in infections" and was being temporarily closed for a deep clean.
"Just spoke to local health chiefs. Weston hospital has a spike in infections & so is being closed to new patients temporarily for a deep clean etc before reopening. There's a temporary A&E outside, so that continues, & inpatients will go to Taunton or Bristol until we reopen," he tweeted.

Of course we do
But surely a lot of these deaths could of been prevented if the UK Govt had acted quicker don’t you think?
And more common sense used by some.
The death toll is horrendous

Cheltenham races, big football matches still went ahead , concerts etc etc
2-3 weeks earlier advice of the Italian & Spanish Govt on what to expect.
Kept airports open without checks.
I could go and on and on.

With hindsight I have no doubt we should have closed down a week earlier, it would of saved a lot of deaths. But there was no clamour for that at the time. The papers want you to believe that's what they wanted but there was no campaigning in the week between the instruction to socially distance on the 16th March and the more significant lockdown the following Sunday. A number reported the facts but The London Standard was the only paper that campaigned on the subject. They are hyper critical of the governments performance but on the 16th March just before the government announced the social distancing they ran with the headline " A lockdown will cost even more lives "
I know you want a more offensive approach to dealing with the louts on Margate beach or professionals like Kinnock or Cummings that aren't playing their part to control this. I've no doubt the 90% who are playing the game want exactly that but if you think that more aggressive stance is coming from the current opposition I think your mistaken.

Your right that’s exactly why I get annoyed because the UK does not clamp down hard on the louts during the virus or the Advisors or the MP’s etc
You’ve also got Boris saying we are over the peak which he said on 8th April and is virtually acting like everything is now back to normal.

There's no normal though, this thing is waiting to bite back at any minute, not just in the UK but everywhere. A big spike and track and trace will quickly be overwhelmed. The only slight light for London is that by mid June 25 - 30 % could be carrying the antibodies. They'll probably be mainly the people who were moving about and would have been spreading it the first time. Hoping it may just slow down the spread.

'R number not going down'
The first minister says the coronavirus lockdown relaxation is limited in Wales because the R number - the measure of how many new people are infected by each case - is "no better today than it was three weeks ago".
Speaking at the Welsh Government's daily Covid-19 briefing, Mark Drakeford said the "good news" was the number of new cases had been steadily declining since the beginning of April, even though twice as many tests were being carried out.
Mr Drakeford said "the very clear advice" from UK scientific advisors and the World Health Organization is that changes should be introduced "one step at a time".
He said people have missed seeing their families and friends over the last three months while the stay-at-home regulations have been in place.

Only half of people with coronavirus symptoms self isolate for seven days
Only around half of people with coronavirus symptoms self-isolate for a week, scientists advising the Government suggested, raising concerns over the ability to prevent future outbreaks.
The revelation comes in a paper from the independent scientific pandemic influenza group on behaviours (SPI-B), which advises Sage, as the key test and trace programme gets under way.
The document reads: "We strongly recommend monitoring and rapid research into adherence rates to all key behaviours and how to improve them, noting that based on DHSC tracker only around 50% of people are currently reporting self-isolating for at least 7 days when symptomatic with cough or fever."
