Just a quick question, would any of you drive your car on a 60mile round journey to check your eye sight on your wife’s birthday?

Yes or no?

Annis, absolutey not, there was a lot of excuses given by cummings but this one is absolutely stupid, and considering he had all the weekend to come up with it, shows what a selfish arrogant idiot he is

Roger, this for me is the story that has put him and the Govt in trouble as its a pathetic reason and one which makes him sound like the public are that gullible they would believe him.

This excuse fails all scrutiny. I'm pretty sure it is illegal to drive a car with deficient eyesight in any case.

Apparently his Father's farm has plenty of private land so why couldn't Cummings have tested his driving ability there?

My personal opinion is the whole story is fabricated. At the time (late March) the UK was gripped by panic and infection rates in London were higher than the rest of the UK. The suspicion has to be he decided to do the selfish thing and relocate to Durham where he felt safer. Cummings nor his wife have ever tested positive for COVID-19 (Surely his wife and child would have been tested on that supposed visit to a hospital) again throwing suspicion on the bases of this story.

IMO it is blindingly obvious his thinking was dominated by it's one rule for an important person like him and another rule for the rest of us plebs.

Durham Police have started their investigation into Dominic Cummings’ alleged breach of lockdown rules as it emerged that the key advisor’s wife Mary can also drive, raising questions about Mr Cummings’ account that he drove 60 miles from Durham to Barnard Castle on Easter Sunday to “test his eyesight”.

Johnson: Deeply sorry for hurt caused

Sir Bernard says the committee is "extremely concerned" about the issue of Dominic Cummings and asks if it has undermined the moral authority of the government.

Boris Johnson says he is "of course deeply sorry for all the hurt and pain and anxiety that people have been going through through this period".

He says: "I feel that my adviser has had quite a lot of autobiography recently. I have commented on it, people know my views, I don't propose to add to it.

"The public want us to focus on, as far as politicians possibly can, on uniting our message and focusing on their needs."

Johnson will not publish 'evidence' from Cummings

Labour's Meg Hillier asks the PM about whether he had seen the evidence about so-called "false" allegations by the media on Dominic Cummings.

The PM says: "I don't want to go into much more than I said..."

But Ms Hillier pushes again, saying it is a "simple yes or no question".

After Johnson says he has seen the evidence, she asks if it should be published or handed to the cabinet secretary.

Johnson says: "I would not be doing my job if I were now to shuffle this problem into the hands of officials... who are working flat out to deal with coronavirus.

"I know there is a great political interest in this and I totally understand the public indignation, but... I have said what I have said about the whole business and it would be much better if we could move on."
