Benidorm holidays

Thu May 14, 2020 5:50 pm

With talk of a Whittingham bar and thoughts of Spain hopefully before Xmas it's made me think of how much benidorm and Spain have changed. I started going to benidorm as a 14 year old with my dad his mate and my sister. When you got off the plane (1974) it was noticeably hot and equally smelly. Fast forward to 77 and I was on my first holiday free of dad at the rio Park 17 stories of benidorms only one star hotel. It was a survival course but fun. The boys next door were from sandfields and never saw the sun. They would wake about 7 pm drink bow And spice it up with aspirin their trip was curtailed when one stabbed his room mate over cards. All the toilet walls were signed by people feeling ill. One night when various football factions were about to kick off one wag calmed the situation with everyone responding to if you've all got the shits clap your hands. When we got home a few had died at the hotel from legionnaires. Good Times though

Had a few good trips in my days to Benidorm,Sometimes up to 30 of us would go over, normally for Cheltenham races with a six nations game normally on,always had a good time, full of bouncers now who just cause hassle, fights be starting every five minutes, fun at first but just got fed up of the constant hassle,so changed to Tenerife last few years

We've started to pop over for a few weekends too mate.
As we're still finding good / bad places can you give us any examples of both IYO. Cheers in advance :occasion5:

Ever tried The Solana Hotel?
All inclusive heaven.
Try contacting Joyce Temple Savage (Manageress) for reservations.
Good pint at 'Neptune's' cabaret bar on the complex.

Cheers mate.
Never really fancied AI as we like to get out and about and sample somewhere different each night, particularly as we generally only go for a long weekend.

Tenerife and four other Spanish airports to reopen

Tenerife airport will reopen to international traffic as of tomorrow.

Yesterday, the Spanish government issued a list of reopenings featuring just five airports and eight ports. However, today they added further airports to the list including Tenerife, plus Alicante, Seville, Menorca and Ibiza.

This means these airports will join El Prat in Barcelona, Canaria in the Canaries, Barajas in Madrid, Málaga-Costa del Sol and Palma de Mallorca in the Balearics. The reopened sea ports include Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Malaga, Palma, Tenerife, Valencia and Vigo.
