The Irish airline Ryanair reported yesterday of its intention to re-charter flights to the airports of Palma and Eivissa from the end of June. This Tuesday, the low-cost airline assured that it will begin operating up to 40% of its usual flight schedule, after keeping almost its entire fleet on the ground during the coronavirus crisis. Ryanair thus joins the Lufthansa Group, which last Friday already communicated its intentions to reactivate 80 aircraft starting in June with which it will fly to 106 destinations, including Mallorca. One of the first flights that Ryanair will operate is the one that connects Berlin with Palma.
Since yesterday, the Irish airline has already sold tickets on its website to connect the route between the German capital and Son Sant Joan from June 25. Ryanair also offers, for example, the possibility of traveling from Mallorca to London, and vice versa, just one day later, starting on the 26th.

Spain keeping borders closed until July
We mentioned this in passing in a post at 11:32am, but here's some more detail from Reuters on Spain's plans to keep borders closed until July:
Spanish authorities are planning to keep borders closed to most travellers from abroad until July, two foreign ministry sources have said, in a move to try and avoid a second wave of coronavirus infections.
Land borders with France and Portugal have been closed since a state of emergency was declared in mid-March to fight the pandemic, pushing the economy to a near stand-still and hitting its tourism sector hard.
Spain has started easing the lockdown for its residents as the pandemic gets under control. But it also imposed a two-week quarantine for foreign travellers and practically shut the border to air and maritime travel to avoid importing new cases from other countries.
The quarantine measure is due to expire on May 24 when the state of emergency lapses, but both can be extended. In any case, restrictions on travel are likely to remain in place for much longer than May 24, no matter how crucial tourism is for the Spanish economy, sources told Reuters.
"When we reach the new normal we can start opening borders with Schengen countries, we are talking about opening to these countries in early July," one of the sources said.
The second source confirmed the government did not expect to open borders before July.

Ryanair cuts 250 office jobs amid collapse in demand for flights
Ryanair has cut more than 250 jobs across its offices in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Poland amid the collapse in demand for flights.
The airline announced that a "small number" of the job cuts have been made through compulsory redundancies.
Ryanair's people director Darrell Hughes said it was a "very painful time" for the carrier.
He went on: "While we expect to reopen our offices from June 1, we will not require the same number of support team members in a year when we will carry less than 100 million passengers, against an original budget of 155 million.
"Regrettably, we will now have a small number of compulsory redundancies in Dublin, Stansted, Madrid and Wroclaw to right size our support teams."
