" Get ready for another peak in England "

Sun May 10, 2020 7:00 pm

That's if people follow the Prime Minister's advice.

If you live in Wales or Scotland, just go with what your First Minister says. Listen to Stormont if you live in Northern Ireland.

But in England there will be millions going back to work, people sunbathing in parks and soon schools reopening, shops open etc.

There will be another peak in England within the next few weeks.

Shambolic.

Sadly i agree with you Ned -

People need to look into it closer.

Nothing has really changed work wise other than giving people hope for June.

All they have done is tell factories and warehouses they can work with social distancing - no change

Tell people who cant work from home to go to work like trades and construction - no change

The fact they are letting people go out more than once is the same as Wales did on Friday apart from they will be allowed to sunbathe away from other people. They cannot meet anyone outside of the household.

At least he has given the public some sort of hope for the future

Schools going back is the major issue

You should have listened to the Prime Ministers speech before posting this.

People have been sunbathing in parks and on the beaches. The police have admitted they have lost control of this. So it will be allowed as long as they follow the rules, otherwise there will be an increased fine system.

Many of the people he talked about are already (or never stopped) working, like construction workers.
Schools have stayed open, and may open up more if the conditions are right in 3 weeks.
No mention of shops opening for some time.

I suggest you listen to his speech and not the left wing media outlets with an agenda.
The first minister of Wales (dreary Drakeford) even contradicted his own health minister (Vaughan Gethin) today, and basically agreed with the Prime Ministers stance.

It is almost certain there will be an increase in cases as the lockdown eases (as in every other country) followed by a 2nd, even 3rd wave, of the spread of the virus whatever precautions are taken.

The English freedom to allow people to travel in cars to exercise, will mean the Brecon Beacons will be full of walkers from England.

There is no way to police it, totally farcical situation.

He said small shops from beginning of June with social distancing as long as numbers continue to fall and public follow rules

England..........................Wales
Millions going back to work - Same
People sunbathing in parks - Same
Schools reopening in June - Same
Shops reopen - Shit we just opened garden centres 2 days earlier :o Armageddon

Its all the same just the devolved governments odn't have the real responsibility as when in doubt they just blame London.

IGNORE BORIS : LISTEN TO STURGEON : SAVE LIVES .

Boris gave his usual upbeat rallying call and will obviously want to deflect from our awful figures. However our early failings will eventually matter little as this terrible virus will sweep what is these days a very small globe. Unless a vaccine is found world boundaries won't matter never mind bloody England wales distinctions

Spot on Norris - As i said this morning with the vaccine being the key to end this on the social distance thread .
We have to keep on going - Respect each other when out and work together to beat this in the meantime.

I find it a little strange that people seemed quite happy to go into lockdown when the government said that the reason for the lockdown was that they were "following the science".

Presumably the government are still "following the science" in loosening the restrictions but the population seems unwilling to accept the same scientific advice that led to the lockdown in the first place.

Unless the government have decided to ignore the current scientific advice?

If however the government is indeed following the science it just goes to show how terrified the population has become over the last few months and how they are no longer willing to accept what they are being told by those in charge.

The truth is A lot of people are comfortable on furlough payments mate and happy getting paid to sit at home.
I looked at my Facebook and all the people who were self employed or sole earners in the house were happy to get back to earning money , the ones who have normal full or part time shop jobs were kicking off. Strange that.

I agree Thomas I can’t see what the fuss is about. A lot of people I know wish they lived in England as they need to get back to work, oh but they can’t as their kids are still at home!

Most people still will anyway. You think when they open shops in the city that people will flock to them? The young might but they will probably be in work if they still have a job

Bring up this topic in a few weeks when I'm proven right.

Unless the rest of your body has joined your head up Boris Johnson's arse by then.

Worcester ccfc I can't speak for the others but I'm no fan of boris (and I suspect some of the other responds to this post are either). Levels of behaviour in Wales Scotland and England won't differ. Who in Wales listens to our very own first minister aka papa smurf

Re: " Get ready for another peak in England "

Let me take you back to the start when it was : 5 PILLARS then 5 KEY MEASURES and now 5 LEVELS ....

I Have tried to find these 5 LEVELS to post but No luck to date . We are on level 4 or 3 and trying to get to level 2 etc...

Whenever the word level came to me and i was playing Blankety Blank - it would be -- Level ( 42 ) .

Now they had some hits ( for the older posters out there !! ) Remember " The Chinese Way " Hmmmm.

what will become evident is that deaths as a consequence of lockdown will outstrip those of covid..of not with..
boris message..not much changes.. but I thought labours guy was keen on an exit.. wanted an exit plan when deaths were over a thousand ?

Re: " Get ready for another peak in England "

For the very huge vast majority of us in England, nothing changes. I won't be going to work, my wife won't, my kids school. (Same as Wales, Scotland)

For the minority. They now can work. But there was advice to go alone, not publicly. And to always social distance.

Nobody said sunbathe all day, play football with your friends or drive to Wales go to the beach.

Awful, meaningless, confused what else would you expect from this fuckwit. This rabble have blood on their hands this whole fiasco will be shredded in three to four years when an enquiry is launched.Hancock is already being fingered as the "blame" in all this.He is a not up to this task yet should not cop the blame for the blundering fool at the top.

Does seem that Hancock is being set up to be the fall guy, he doesn't help himself when he does speak though.

It's no secret that I'm a Labour member, supporter etc but I have said time and time again I want the Government to deal with this well because it's in all our interests.

But they should also be criticised when they get it wrong.

Correct, our leader wanted an exit strategy and it was much needed.

But tonight's performance from the Prime Minister was very vague. There will be more details in Parliament tomorrow, and I look forward to hearing them - I really hope there is a lot more detail and that those who don't watch Parliament are informed well.

But I can only judge it on the Ministerial Statement tonight and Keir Starmer is right.

"Many people wanted clarity and some sort of consensus tonight, and I don't think they got either."

Jimmy I've always hugely respected your posts on here ages before I finally fell over the line and joined Hancock etc I agree and feel your frustration but would labour have done better? I don't give a shit for any political party.

Why oh why are people pushing for the vaccine ? Do the research before you even think about and dont put something in your body that you've no idea what it contains and the damage it may do.

Agree with that.. but Health Ministers don’t normally have to deal with global pandemics as part of their remit.
