CONFIRMED:”ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT NEWS FOR BALEARIC ISLANDS / FROM NEXT MONDAY / BARS & RESTAURANTS TERRACES RE-OPEN & MORE SHOPS ETC :thumbright: :thumbright: “ WELL DONE THE PEOPLE OF THE ISLANDS “ :thumbright: :thumbright:

60 Days of No business or work for the majority of the people on the islands and No money from the Govt for them  Mow hopefully over for many :thumbright: :thumbright:

The Spanish Minister of Health, Patricia Gómez, said today that the data on the involvement of the coronavirus, as well as the available resources, "guarantee" that the Balearic Islands will pass next Monday to phase 1 of the de-escalation.

Gómez has appeared at a press conference with the spokesman of the Autonomous Committee for the Management of Infectious Diseases, Javier Arranz, to present and assess the latest data on the presence of the virus in the Islands.

In this sense, the councilor has taken stock of the evolution of the pandemic in the last month in the Balearic Islands and has ensured that the reductions in hospital admissions, the increase in discharges and the evolution of infections "guarantee" the passage of the islands to phase 1 of the de-escalation.

As he explained, while at the end of March the number of infections grew more than 20 percent every day, in recent days the new positives have not reached 1 percent daily.

The consellera has detailed that in a month the number of active cases has been reduced by half, 70 percent of infected people have been cured and hospital admissions and care in ICUs have been reduced by more than 50 percent.

Likewise, in the last 30 days the number of discharges has tripled.

That’s great news Annis, but with no tourists on the island are the bars and restaurants going to be financially viable??

It’s going to be very tough for anyone in the hospitality business, will they get any help from the government in Spain to help them out??

Was reading yesterday, that bars on the Costa del sol and blanca, bar owners saying they will not open with no tourist trade,as to open just for locals is not financially viable. As a kind of protest to the government on when tourism will start again! It's certainly going to be hard times for them without tourist trade,a lot will go under :sad7: :old: :bluebird:

Spain’s PM urges caution before lockdown easing

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has called on people to exercise “total caution” ahead of a partial relaxation of the country’s lockdown.

More than half of the country, about 23 million people, will start “phase one” of the strategy to ease nationwide social-distancing measures on Monday.

Restaurants and bars will be able to serve people outdoors, non-essential shops will be allowed to open and gatherings of up to 10 people will be permitted.

But, in places where the lockdown is loosened, people should “take precautions as if they were infected”, Sanchez said.

“The virus has not disappeared. It is still on the prowl,” Sanchez warned in a TV address on Saturday.

Spain’s number of coronavirus-related deaths jumped by 179 to 26,478 on Saturday, the lowest daily rise since mid-March.

The country has reported more than 220,000 coronavirus infections to date, the second-highest in the world after the US.
