COVID-19 is a worry, especially for those in high risk groups, like my mother and brother and possibly myself. However, the effects from the lock downs will mean more people may end up suffering and even dead. This will impact on domestic abuse; child abuse; waiting times for treatment for heart conditions, cancer and other medical problems; mental heath issues; and the financial constraints will turn people to drink, drugs and even suicide. Unfortunately, most governments have used lock down and now we have to abide, or it will have been for nothing. If governments learn from this, as soon as their is even a rumour of a new virus, they will ban flights from that country. If the world and the WHO had heeded the warning from Taiwan, most cases and deaths could have been avoided. Containment of the virus and not of the people was the way to go, with temperature scans and hand sanitiser for all shops etc, plus strict quarantine measures. Keep isolated and stay safe.

Remember when Boris came out of hospital the press were asking how long it would take to recover and they said some people could take months to fully recover after surviving and some could be left with health problems.

Just to clarify, the 0.12% is the percentage chance of the population dying, which will include people who have had COVID-19 without symptoms, those who already tested positive and those without the virus. The actual death rate, CFR (case fatality rate) is very difficult to calculate during a pandemic (see link below).
