OPINIONS?
A Premier League return for the controversial owner is being described as ‘unlikely’, however one source has said his dismal time with the Magpies hasn’t put him off from football completely.
Once the cash is on the table, Ashley is ready to end his 13-year tenure on Tyneside and look elsewhere.
It stated that he’d “love” to invest in a EFL club with a ‘sound fanbase and potential to grow’. We’ll let you draw up a list of that one.
Ashley has made it clear he wants to stay in football and buy a club with a big fan base outside the Premier League.
He is also planning to point to the fact that he will leave Newcastle debt-free.

Personally I thought he done OK at Newcastle, Newcastle fans are deluded think they are bigger than they are

I agree wez. No local person was willing to buy the club for these so said amazing fans.

For everything Tan has done with us so far i would prefer Tan than Ashley because Tan would be more invested into the club than Ashley. Even though Tan has yet to come to our stadium throughout this season I just think its best to keep an owner you know than an owner you dont. And even though Tan had a tricky start to our club he is doing alright now.
So NO to Mike Ashley, And YES for Vincent Tan.

Sadly, I think most owners would be 'hated' (always a strong word) by some on here
Personally, I have to say I am happy with what we currently have; but I have to say that if (hypothetically) we were in need, I can think of worse people who could come into our club
Mike Ashley has the means to push a club on and Wez is right when he says Newcastle fans are deluded and almost as insular as the 'dirty' lot in Yorkshire...

Do we really want somebody who treats his employees like he does owning our club !?
No thanks !

Happy with Vincent Thankyou , however, if he wished to sell our club, would we be able to be fussy ?

I remember when Ashley took over at Newcastle his business model was based on buying or developing young talent. If he was to come here and invest massively in the academy to produce both local and talent from elsewhere with a view to utilising for the first team and then selling at a profit then I would be personally delighted with that strategy.
Since VT came here in 2010 I have always thought he missed a trick with the academy. It is one area where a club can make significant money so a return to the way Sam Hamman ran the youth system would be most welcome,

Met some Newcastle fans after our prem league match that finished 0-0.
We were having a curry and a group of them came in and we got chatting.
They hated Ashley with a passion.
I think no myself, wouldn't want him here, sometimes better the devil you know.

It would be easier to choose which clubs are for sale in the championship with a good fan base and an owner wishing to sell?

Never ever would I want him anywhere near this club.
Newcastle are a big club, there's no two ways about it. They have shown no ambition under his tenure.
I would rather have Tan and that's saying something.

Most Newcastle fans I know put him on the same level as Tan when we were going through the rebrand. I tell them they don't know what they are talking about.

im not knocking him because he is keeping us stable... but ambition ?
personally I think we could do with a change , and could do a lot worse than this bloke..

He did go on a few spending sprees at Newcastle in fairness although the clubs choice of players was definitely questionable
One thing he did do was authorise enough spending for them to “buy” promotion back to the premier league when they were relegated a few years ago
He wasn’t very popular at Newcastle because their fans think that they are such a big club they should automatically be winning the premier league every year (a bit like the deluded Weeds fans)
However, if he genuinely was interested in buying an EFL club you would think that our club would be one of the clubs he would at least consider

To be fair no recent owner hasnt been hated here. Alot of fans these days want money chucked at everything but also the debt to stay down
Personally think he did ok with Newcastle but im more than happy with Tan.

Many years ago we would have been more than happy for him to invest in our club
but i dont think he would be to intrested in us when you have the likes of middlesborough, sheff weds, forest
even sunderland who can also attract large crowds
