“ Some hotels / Planes to fly “

Tue Apr 28, 2020 7:58 am

Paguera a town 2kms from where I live in Santa Pionsa is set to re-open as early as this June with flights coming in.

A beautiful town, I visit it’s market twice a month .
Food , drink and say clothes are a bit more expensive than say Santa Ponsa, Palma Nova etc.

Great news for Mallorca, but it’s 99% used by Germans and it’s known as little Germany to locals .

Flights will be apparently be direct from German airports .

The Spanish/Madrid Govt will be discussing this proposal the first week of May and it’s been backed by the Mallorca Govt.

Spain, Italy and Greece brace for a difficult holiday season

The 'Club Med' countries are among the economies facing the biggest hits from the collapse of tourism due to Covid-19, reports Tom Rees.

“We have a little hope for the summer, but every day that passes it gets smaller and smaller,” says Julio Fraile, owner of luxury tourism firm Marbella in Style.

By April the mercury on the Costa del Sol's beaches is starting to rise, but the streets of Marbella are “totally quiet” and Fraile’s high-end villas lie mostly empty, he says. “We are obviously very concerned that no one will be able to come here for the summer.”

The glamorous town’s beaches reopened on Sunday but it will be some time before sun worshippers flock to Spain’s travel hotspot on the southern coast.

The coronavirus outbreak has all but ended the lucrative holiday season for the “Club Med” economies.

Even if restrictions are lifted in Europe before the end of summer, tourists may not willingly flood back.”

Ibiza, Majorca, Lanzarote and Tenerife may come out of lockdown before rest of Spain being voted on in SPANISH Govt tonight.

But as to UK being allowed here, I don’t know and I need to know to get My Daughter here.

What will happen to Europe’s tourism industry?

While those employed in aviation and tourism face particularly worrying times, many would-be holidaymakers are wondering whether they will able to go on their planned trips this year. Countries reliant on sun-seeking visitors are hoping they will be able to welcome them.

Tourism ministers from across the EU are meeting today to discuss how the industry can aim to restart and recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

Greek tourism minister Harry Theoharis says they will be discussing how to allow travel in a “safe and responsible way”, including the possibility of people being tested before they get on a flight.

Greece sees about 20% of its economy generated by the holiday industry.

“We want people to come to Greece this summer,” Theoharis told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

“Of course we will take precautions in terms of the requirements before travelling, but also in the way people travel and the way they stay. On sunbeds, etc, social distancing rules will apply.”

Simon Calder said this morning extensive polls say 55% of people won't fly until a proven vaccine, I am surprised but he said 45% of people will fly, I suppose if you're young or maybe had it already it wouldn't be so much of a problem.

Flights expected to be at least a third more expensive as they are talking about leaving the middle seats empty, probably a lot more than that though due to the lack of demand and extra distancing and cleaning measures needed in airport and flights themselves.
