Those ‘celebrations’ still make me angry . Absolute dog shit . Don’t even think we made it on the pitch that day .

Terrible day all round.

Remember those cheap plastic footballs the players kicked into the crowd?

Pathetic.

AND WE LOST 0-3 AND GUESS WHAT WE WORE SWANSEA CITY'S / COLOURS

It was bad enough being the last game, that broke me, but what happened that day was Disgraceful, on and off the pitch.

The team gave nothing to our fans and look who the manager was Dave Jones, No wonder.

I was fuming that day, NINIAN PARK meant everything to me and thousands of diehard Bluebirds

It was a total disgrace.

Ninian Park was a football stadium in the Leckwith area of Cardiff, Wales, that was the home of Cardiff City F.C. for 99 years

Opened in 1910 as 'Sloper Park' with a single wooden stand, it underwent numerous renovations during its lifespan and hosted fixtures with over 60,000 spectators in attendance. At the time of its closure in 2009, it had a capacity of 21,508.

Cardiff City had originally been playing home fixtures at Sophia Gardens but the lack of facilities at the ground had prevented them from joining the Southern Football League. To combat this, club founder Bartley Wilson secured a plot of land from Cardiff Corporation that had previously been used as a rubbish tip and construction of a new ground began in 1909.

The stadium was completed a year later and named Ninian Park after Lieutenant-Colonel Lord Ninian Crichton-Stuart, who had acted as a financial guarantor for the build. A friendly match against Football League First Division champions Aston Villa was organised to open the ground. It was originally constructed with a single wooden stand and three large banks made of ash, but gradual improvements saw stands constructed on all sides of the pitch. The four stands were named the Canton Stand, the Grange End, the Popular Bank and the Grandstand.

The ground was also used as the home stadium for the Wales national football team from 1911 until the late 1980s, hosting 84 international fixtures during its existence.

Safety concerns led to the ground's capacity being drastically reduced and Cardiff Arms Park replacing the stadium as the preferred home venue for the national side.

The Welsh national side holds the record attendance for a match at Ninian Park; 62,634 fans watched a fixture against England on 17 October 1959. Cardiff City's club record attendance of 57,893 came at the stadium during a Football League fixture against Arsenal on 22 April 1953.

The ground hosted its last match on 25 April 2009 against Ipswich Town and was demolished soon after, being replaced by the adjacent newly constructed Cardiff City Stadium. The site was converted into a residential housing estate that was named Ninian Park after the ground.

I left straight after the game and felt really angry, we just didn't look like scoring that day. Funny thing is, I go back a long way supporting city and 0-3 scorelines were the ones that I got most upset about. Reading in the play off 2nd leg, Middlesboro, and some years before a game against Colchester who we were expected to beat, all pi55ed me off.
And yet during my time we got done 1-5 by Brian Clough's Derby, there was a 1-6 to Sheff Utd in the 70's and a 2-7 against Cambridge, but none of those hurt like those 0-3 games.

No matter what anyone says, Cardiff City's biggest mistake was to let Ninian Park go. A stadium that was the heart of Cardiff City football club and every single fan to the Bluebirds got upset and rightfully so because Ninian is Cardiff City's best ever stadium. Just look at Bournemouth who kept there small ground there was no excuse to me that Ninian did not need to go.

I very much miss that stadium and even though our current stadium a great now a small part of me just wish they rebuilt Ninian and we go back to our true stadium. Thats how much I miss it because it was an incredible stadium. :ayatollah:

I loved NP mate...
Bournemouth ... although being on the same bit of land turned the pitch and completely rebuilt the stadium about 10 years ago.. so in some respects its a new ground..

Not even close to being true.

We wouldn’t have had a proper future at Ninian Park.

Exactly. Even after that result we were virtually assured of a place in the play offs as we were still six points clear of Preston with one game left though they had a game in hand and were playing that night at Birmingham who were top and going for the title. They had to win and I seem to remember they were 1-0 down with about 15 mins left but won it with a goal in the last couple of minutes.

Before the Ipswich game we were 100-1 not to make the play offs and were probably something like 25-1 after it. Almost ashamed to say that I took the 100-1 bet and won £200. Never picked up my winnings with such a heavy heart.

I left immediately after their third goal. didn't even look back over my shoulder at the old place.. it was the trip where no one spoke coming home from Sheffield the following week when things began to sink in... I don't think I missed anything..0-3 at home they could have been kicking gold plated balls into the crowd and it wouldn't have improved my mood coming out of Hillsborough...
