BREAKING

110 more virus deaths in Wales brings total to 751 not including care homes or private home deaths

Another 110 people in Wales have died with coronavirus - taking the total number to 751, Public Health Wales (PHW) has said.

The sudden increase in numbers is due to a delay in the reporting process and includes 84 retrospective deaths which occurred between 20 March and 22 April in one health board area, PHW said.

The new figures also showed 243 confirmed new cases since the last count, taking the total to 8,601.

The true number of cases is likely to be higher as many people with symptoms are not tested.

This comes an hour and half after the Welsh Minister going on about new measures and 7 key points before easing lockdown .

It is quiet clear that there are more cars on the road - No graph was shown yesterday for the national fig as normal .

Also No chart was shown for like for like each country where we are with deaths - as again shown each day but not yesterday.

The telegraph have put up an up to date chart which shows the UK - Behind just the USA .

Today's recorded deaths in Wales are by far the most recorded to date - and the weather shines on some to still go out !

STAY HOME > PROTECT THE NHS > SAVE LIVES .

Come on now.... 110 with the vast majority spread out over the last month.

I have not seen any data or evedidence to suggest Wales numbers are increasing daily, 99% seem to agree the peak has passed

'Levelling off" in coronavirus cases in Wales

Public Health Wales said a further 243 people had tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 8,601.

Just 1,027 tests were carried out on Thursday, with a total of 29,931 carried out across Wales. There is current capacity for 1,800 tests daily.

Dr Robin Howe, from Public Health Wales, said: "Based on the new case numbers there is emerging evidence suggesting a levelling-off in the number of new cases of Covid-19 in Wales, which may be an indication of the effectiveness of lockdown measures.

"However, it is still too early to tell for sure, and it is too soon to end the current social distancing rules.

"Public Health Wales continues to fully support the extension of lockdown measures, which is essential to avoid reversing the gains we have made in slowing the spread of this virus, protecting our NHS, and saving lives."

Of course this is a vile illness and those families affected are in mourning. However I cannot help to wonder about some of the media coverage ? We in Wales are better off than most percentage wise vis a vis death/infection rate. We face some difficult choices do we watch our economy collapse or have a properly planned exit policy?

I have to say Annis, the banner title of this topic,is rather dramatic,as has been explained, these were including 84 cases that had been delayed from north Wales, the headline should read 26 new deaths in last 24 hours, not "another 110, and the number of deaths from other causes With covid present being registered as covid related, when there is a very likely other actual cause of death,ie any serious underlying illnesses /serious conditions such as renal failure ,copd, cancers etc, they cannot list every death as covid related, just because they have tested positive doesn't mean the person died "of" it.your headline paints a story that looks scarier than fact!if the story that come from Italy is true, then the numbers of deaths directly caused by covid alone, are extremely low.whereas the rest had serious underling Ilnessess. :old: :bluebird:
