CARDIFF CITY PLAYERS AGREE TO TAKE PAY CUTS DURING LOCKDOWN
Club Statement | Friday 24th / 04/20
Club News
Cardiff City FC
We are able to announce that a voluntary agreement has been reached between our First Team players to help maintain financial stability at Cardiff City during this unprecedented time of global economic concern.
Following constructive discussions between the Board and playing staff, it has been agreed with the greatest of will that all First Team players will take partial pay deferrals for three months in order to support the club and protect the livelihoods of its non-playing personnel.
Mr Choo said: “I’m pleased that our players have come together with us to make this significant financial gesture in support of our club and owner.
“We have a tightly-knit community within the club between our non-playing staff and players; this personal connection compelled our players to step forward and do what they have done, and I’d like to say how proud of them I am for doing this.
“We look forward to returning to the normality of sport in the not too distant future but, until then, will continue to do all we can to protect the infrastructure of our club and community.”

It's good they are doing this to help out at this time.
The only question will be how will it effect the clubs finances in the near future regarding player recruitment and wage structures.
They state they are deferrals not wage cuts meaning in three months all that money saved is due to be paid back. Is that one lump sum or spread over the rest of the contracts.
It will effect FFP and how much we can spend on wages
This is not a criticism just a observation

Well done lads, this is what together stronger is all about. Proud.

Only a pay referral not a pay cut??
Hopefully this won’t lead to any bickering or nonsense between the club and players further down the line, but it’s definitely a move in the right direction

Cardiff chairman disappointed in football's 'bare minimum' response
Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman says he is disappointed in football's "bare minimum" reaction to the coronavirus crisis.
He has warned that Championship clubs face financial "distress" caused by the lockdown and admits the Bluebirds will be among the clubs having to curtail spending plans this summer.
"I think the impact will be quite considerable if things remain equal," Dalman told BBC Sport Wales.
Cardiff confirmed on Friday that players had agreed a partial salary deferral with first-team players of up to three months, saying it would help "maintain financial stability" during the "unprecedented time of global economic concern".
Manager Neil Harris and chief executive Ken Choo had already taken voluntary wage cuts.
But Dalman insists more should have been done by football in general, also calling for greater help from the Premier League to clubs lower in the system.
"I think it has been very disappointing, to say the least, the way football has reacted to this crisis," he said.

Well done and its a start i guess. Football behind closed doors till 2021?? Im guesing a bit more needs to happen. At least the club is throwing a few bones to the media with this.

What Dalman doesn't mention is we've had £60 odd million this season. In parachute money and £30 odd million next, season. If we are in fanancial difficulties
God help the, rest.

So there is no pay cut by the players , just deferred part of their wages for 3 months.

Dalman is a politician.
I’ve told him that to his face many times and he laughs

Agents will not know what hit them this summer, hopefully there will be no closing of the transfer window and clubs will then have to lower their transfer fees and players their expectations of wages.
Any club with just a few bob to spend will be able to pick up some real bargains.
If we have problems , how will spurs with 750 million of debt manage.
Hard to see any spectators at games until 21/22 season im afraid.

There is a difference between 'Pay Deferrals' and 'Pay cuts' and City players are basically agreeing to a savings scheme right now!

Just a wage deferral then. If I was a player then perhaps I would think like Roy Keane??? But no fans at grounds until 2021 means a more sharpened response surely.
I'd like to think I'd go the Bale route though . Big thumbs up for our Captain there fairplay.
