Gareth Bale gives £500,000 to hospital

Real Madrid and Wales footballer Gareth Bale has posted an emotional video after donating £500,000 to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff to help it respond to the coronavirus pandemic.

He thanked NHS staff and said: "It holds a special place in my heart. It is where I was born."

Our @Health_Charity the official charity of @cv_uhb would like to thank Wales and Real Madrid football legend, Gareth Bale and his wife Emma for their huge £500,000 donation to the University Hospital of Wales.

Well done GB. Don’t know him myself but a mate of mine taught him and he has been in contact with his old school regularly. A real down to earth and humble lad so I’m told. Well done son.
Hopefully the Beckhams standing within the business / football industry takes a nosedive after this, Annis.

This may of already been posted but a month or so back C&V charity wanted to raise I think £13000 for various bits and Aaron Ramsey donated the whole lot in one hit too.. not forgotten their roots fantastic from both individuals

I don't think a lot of us appreciate what some (maybe not all) players do for charities; often without shouting it from the rooftops...

One of the biggest donators in football is former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and there are lots more like him out there
