Brighton and Hove seafronts busy just days after lockdown extended

Brighton and Hove seafronts have been busy this weekend – just days after the UK lockdown was extended.

19th April 2020

Hove seafront

As the warm weather returned today (April 19), individuals were spotted sunbathing and even kayaking. It was announced on Thursday (April 16) the UK’s lockdown would be extended for a further three weeks. Brighton and Hove Police said on social media: “We know it’s lovely at the beach and an ice cream is very tempting but please remember that the coronavirus pandemic is not over. If you are out taking your daily exercise and tempted by a gelato or two, please maintain social distancing of at least 2m from each other and we shouldn’t have to say it, but no stopping to sunbathe. Do not let your guard down now.

This national health emergency is far from over and people who have Covid-19 may not display any symptoms. Act responsibility to keep yourselves, your families and the people around you safe.”

I cannot understand the thinking of these people!!

Absolutely terrifying.

How quickly some must have become desensitized to the huge global threat.

We are fortunate as my partner works from home and my little lad has a garden to play in. The weather is on our side too.

As has been said before with over 500 deaths A DAY how can those wander around??

Imagine a silent Jack the Ripper wreaking havoc...would they still go out?

In fairness in that photo everyone is either on their own, walking their dog or in groups of no more than 2 and all keeping their distances from each other

If you live in a flat or apartment with no garden what else can you do to get exercise??

If your out in public just sunbathing, having a barbecue or socialising in groups etc that is different that is irresponsible behaviour and obviously people should be told to move and fined for that!!

Arrogance of some people is amazing,I know of loads just carrying on with a not give a feck attitude, but if they are allowed to do it,they are going to,the government have got this all wrong,it should be a total lock down, this could continue for months, the same people who are ignoring the advice, will be the same people moaning when taxes and vat will be shot up,to cover the costs of everthing
