Nobody knows really how to deal with this and I'm just relieved that we do not have Corbyn in charge now because that would have been a disaster.
The biggest mistake they have made is not being tough on London and people flouting the rules.
Other than than that I cant see what they have done wrong really

The hypothetical question about Corbyn is completely irrelevant. The Tories are in power and have been for a decade. Everything that happens in this crisis and beyond is down to them. It is their funding of the NHS, it's their policies on social care and its their decisions in the crisis. They have failed to respond with the necessary urgency throughout this period. As the thread states Johnson missed 5 COBRA meetings. The failed to stop inbound flights to this county early enough, failed to lockdown the country early enough, failed to secure PPE and ventilators early enough and the list goes on. A quick look at the Sunday papers shows you the mood the country is heading with the government's handling of all this. Even the Daily Mail is beginning to seriously question them.

For Boris to miss 5 meetings is indefensible.
Matt Hancock in January stated on question time that availability of PPE was no issue and sitting in warehouses.
A shocking lie.

The NHS is not poorly funded it's the way the money is spent that is the problem.
Hindsite is a great thing but if they closed the country down early and we had no cases people would say they were wrong to do it so early. You can't just close a country at the drop of a hat it has cost billions of pounds and millions of jobs. We will be paying this off for 50 years it was not a easy decision.
Regarding ventilators and PPE , nobody saw this coming and nobody had any idea all these ventilators would be needed so why would they stockpile thousands at nearly 20k each ? They would be ridiculed for wasting money again.
Flights from China should have been stopped earlier yes but again you have to way IP the financial impact of doing that.
They can't win either way and to be fair they have not done a bad job

If its so easy to get these supplies why dont you offer your services to the government and order them for us ?
Every country in the world is scrapping round for PPE they are not just going to sell us the supplies when they need them themselves.

Are you keeping up with the news - there are companies out there in the UK who have emailed the Gov to provide the PPE .
There was an 8 year old out there making the stuff yesterday - covered on Breakfast TV .
Jenerick - asked yesterday for these companies to email them again after a reporter made him aware of the problem .
They have had over 2 months to sort this out - there are people put in charge of these departments -
That's how business works - so there is NO NEED FOR ME TO OFFER MY SERVICES - (Just needs people to take up the offers)

The UK sent 273,000 piece of personnel protection equipment (PPE) to China during the peak of their outbreak in February, according to Micheal Gove.
Mr Gove said: "We did send protective equipment to China. But, I think it's important to stress two things there as well. The first thing is that the personal protection equipment that we sent to China was to help with the most extreme outbreak in Wuhan.
"That personal protection equipment was not from our pandemic stock. And, also we have received far more from China in personal protective equipment than we have given."
Controversy has raged over the lack of PPE for NHS staff amid fears that some hospitals could run out of certain types this weekend.
Do you still want me to make that phone call and ask for our stuff back !!!! ????![]()
A British Medical Association (BMA) survey of more than 6,000 doctors across the country said a significant amount of them remain without the protection they need to guard against Covid-19.
