I’ve seen male birds return to nests with a worm in its beak and the female sitting in the nest squawking / screeching at the male as if he’d brought the wrong type of worm.

Sven, the male has the yellow beak, the female is brown and plain looking..

This is true,also only males are actually black!whilst we are on the subject,I have feeders in my garden,not 4ft from my living room window,and it has been unusually quiet of late? I know the weather we have had,let's them feed on insects,but have never noticed it this quiet tbf.just the odd blue tit,and great tit,plus our resident Robins.
