Blackbirds

With more time on my hands, I’ve been watching the Blackbirds in the bird bath. Seems the female spends twice as long in there as the male. It appears that this sort of behaviour is not species specific..

I’ve seen male birds return to nests with a worm in its beak and the female sitting in the nest squawking / screeching at the male as if he’d brought the wrong type of worm.

Perhaps he'd been out all night and worm was a peace offering?

Strange you mention birds as I was having a conversation earlier regarding how many have been killed by vehicles or are just dead in the last few weeks. The roads seem littered with road kill . Maybe it's because the roads are quieter and they are getting braver or is something else causing them to be suicidal. Just today I had two pretty much dive in front of the van on the motorway.

Strange behaviour they are not normally this bad

I'm laughing here, as the ONLY bird I've noticed using the bird bath in next door's garden is a Blackbird...

Not sure of its sex (M/F) but it did seem to be there a while!

I know the weather we have had, let's them feed on insects, but have never noticed it this quiet tbf.just the odd blue tit,and great tit, plus our resident Robins. :old: :bluebird:
