Will going to the football ever be the same again?

Sun Apr 12, 2020 8:05 pm

Do you think going to the football will ever be the same as it was just two months ago?

Will people be willing to travel to matches on trains, coaches and buses in close proximity to each other?

Will they want to sit in stadiums next to each other and celebrate goals in the way they used to, jumpimg around and hugging strangers?

Will they be happy to be standing by people singing and chanting and potentially contaminating the air around them?

How many people will be going to games wearing masks?

It's going to be strange.

Was thinking the same and as you can't have social distancing and stay 2 M from other fans I think our older support will find it hard to return. I am 63 and will defo be worried. :bluescarf:

I think the biggest problem will be knowing when this virus is gone so we can return to a normal life. We may think it's gone and then there's a second wave. I think 2020 will be remembered but for all the wrong reasons. Many of us will be glad just to get through it.

Attendances will be affected quite badly I would have imagined.especially if there's a second wave.

I don’t think the virus will go but we will treat it like flu when we have a vaccine. The next problem after this pandemic will be next winter when we will have to be careful again because we won’t have a vaccine be then. This will affect attendances next winter. We must protect the vulnerable

Yeah, I can see a massive drop in attendances, people will weigh up the risks, especially anyone elderly with a pre existing health condition.
It's going to take a while for us to regain confidence to step into a pub or football stadium.

Unfortunately this virus will never be gone, the world has We knew it has now gone,it’s now changed for ever, the sooner a vaccine is made the better for everyone

Surely a vaccine will make things better though.

Clearly a vaccine is desperately needed, the problem we got is how can the spread be stopped in the mean time?,how the government can Still let planes land into London from infective countries is unbelievable

Football will never be the same, they'll need to put ticket prices down, not up for a start. I think wages for players will also have to dramatically drop. As it happens, I'm not missing professional football at all, I've slowly been drifting away to local Amateur football for the last few years, I can see me watching more of that.

Sorry mate I was just responding to you saying the world as we knew it had changed for ever. I reckon it will be awful til the vaccine is sorted. Who knows tho.

you could well be correct about ticket prices to attract fans to live games. but will it be less popular on TV ? I think not so players will continue to earn big wages...
personally I cant wait for it to start back..
